NCE cab 04e locking up the system?

I have a Powercab with an SB3 and two additional panels for an 04p and an 04e. I operated many months with the powercab and 04p without any lock ups or shut downs. Now that I have the SB3 hooked up I can use the 04e but when I do use the 04e it will lock up the entire system. Sometimes it happens imediately sometimes it will run for a few minutes before causing problems. When it locks up it stops everything. The powercab and the two extra throttles lock up too.

I have isolated each panel to thier own port on the SB3 with no luck, I have reset the system over and over. I have put the powercab on a four wire cable.

Could there be a short on the layout that the SB3 picks up but the powercab never did? Is it more sensitive? I have searched over the entire layout many times and cannot find where a short may be causing this.

Please, someone advise before I do something I know I and any other MRRer will not want here about.

No I have not e-mailed NCE. I seem to get better info here, but I may just have to do that. Does your SB3 ever lock up on you?

Nope. I only have the Power Cab and CAB-04p on my system and it has never locked up on me.

So, John, if you unplug your 04e from the layout but leave everything else hooked up, your layout runs fine? And, the layout locks up no matter which panel you have the 04e plugged into?

I have run for some time utilizing the powercab and 04p but evertime I use the 04e I have problems. If I leave it alone I am ok but as soon as I use it or shortly there after all locks up.

Hoefully tomorrow I can unpug the 04e and run trains for a while with just the powercab and 04p to see what happens.

Actually, after using the 04e I think I like the 04p more, but I am stuck with it for now.
