Hi, this christmas I got a new BLI Dash 8. I put her on the layout, programmed it into the controller, and started it up. I noticed it was extremely loud, and looked it up in the manual to find that it is pre set to the loudest setting. The instruction manuel only gives instructions for turning it down with the Rolling Thunder reciever, not with a normal DCC throttle. Anyone know how to?
I recently bought an “non-Rolling Thunder” Paragon 2 SW7. The “Sound Unit Master Volume” is listed towards the end of the manual (pg. 20) as CV133, under DCC CV’s, descriptions and default settings.
Default is “128” (0-128). You might try adjusting that CV first. I reduced it to 50% (CV133=64) and it was plenty loud enough. Individual diesel sounds are adjusted similarly using CV135-CV148 & CV150-CV156 for the SW7 and the default is “128” (0-255).
My guess is that your Dash 8 should have pretty much the same CV settings. Let me know if that works for you, Chris.
Yea, the default sound settings can be pretty loud, Chris. [:O]
Did your Dash 8 manual contain the DCC CV’s, descriptions and default settings section I mentioned? It lists the individual sounds (e.g. horn1, horn2, bell, coupler clash, etc.) that you can adjust. I only adjusted the overall master volume and the other sounds were still plenty loud enough to be heard.
