NCE Issues

I had an overloading issue with my power pro which NCE said I had to mail to them for repair. I mailed it on 9/22/06 and it was delivered and signed for by NCE on 9/28/06. I had not heard anything on it so I called them after two weeks and they couldnt find it there. He says he will look for it and call me back. Few days goes by no call back so I call again. Same thing they cant find it get my number and tell me they will call me back. No call back. About a week goes by I call back again. Same thing cant find it gets my number and doesnt call me back. I called today samething can’t find it don’t have record of it being shipped out does’nt call me back.

Now I know they are a very small business and very busy but this is making me nervous. I am beginning to think my Power Pro isnt coming back.

Any suggestions? I have had nothing but good luck with these people up until now.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear of your circumstance. Not to make lite of the issue but I figure your Power Pro is keeping company with NCE’s announced computer interface (over 18 months ago), Smart Booster, and program track interface unit. They (he) seem(s) to have a track record of “lost” items.

Somebody say something positive for NCE, please. I believe that a certain somebody is gonna get me a NCE system for Christmas. I am just starting out with DCC and don’t like hearing stuff like this.

I love my NCE, have had zero problems, and wouldn’t trade it for anything.

While I think the other major systems are also quite good, and in fact used to own a Lenz, I leaned toward NCE because it had full duplex wireless (rather than having to plug in to acquire locos and such as with simplex systems) and that continues to be the greatest thing about it. My throttle has NEVER been plugged in…

The decision literally came down to NCE for duplex wireless versus Digitrax for having a 2-in-one throttle. The wireless ended up being more important to me, after trying both systems, but it was a very close call and I still think it silly that NCE doesn’t have a two-control throttle available.

The dates don’t seem to add up, but that’s not really important, so there’s no need for me to comment on it. I’m sure it would make me nervous if it seemed like my items could not be found, which might make the passing time seem longer.

Lots of people in my area use NCE, as I do, and they love it (as I do). Some of them have sent the occasional part in for repair and they always come back, though it may take a little while. If you’re really concerned, call and ask to speak with Jim Scorss (sp?), the owner.

I would get a printout from UPS or US Mail, who ever shipped it for you, showing delivery and somebody accepting it in New York. Fax it to them and ask for it back or a replacement unit. I use NCE and love it. I had one problem which required me sending it back, which I did, they fixed it and sent it back to me. It was gone for about a month or two.

When I first got my Powerhouse Pro system a couple of years ago it had a reset problem - it would reset the clock and everything else stored in the command station whenever I unplugged it. NCE trouble-shot the unit on the phone, then asked me to send it back - something about a bad chip. About three weeks later I got it back and it’s worked perfectly ever since.

When I ordered the update chipset from NCE it took only a few days to receive it.

I’ve always gotten excellent service when I’ve called. Seems odd that they would keep promising a call-back and not follow through. Have you been talking to the same person each time? I agree with the earlier poster - ask for the owner next time.

I use NCE components with my Dynatrol DCC system. I agree with alco_fan; ask to speak with Jim Scorse directly. He was very helpful when I called about how to change the command station innards to work with my Dynatrol system.

NCE even sent me a free chip upgrade when they became available. I love my Dynatrol/NCE system.

I love my Pro Cab when it is working and even with this I will still continue to buy NCE stuff. I might buy a Power Cab for programming stuff and sooner or later ( probably later) the Switch-8’s will be out which I am waiting on.

I honestly don’t care if they have fixed it yet or not but they could at least tell me one way or another. The “let me get your number and I will call you back” thing is gettting old.

I have been talking to Larry the whole time and seems like a nice guy. I do have the tracking number and the Pro Cab was signed by the owner of the company.

This isnt the end of the world by far, but it would be nice to know what is going on with it.

Thanks!

I appreciate seeing some positive feedback about NCE. It makes me feel a lot better about this whole thing.

I have the NCE PowerPro wireless system on my home layout and have had no problems whatsoever with it. I have also installed a lot of NCE decoders, and have never had a bad one.

If we ever have to replace the DCC system we are using on our HO-scale club layout, we have decided that it will be NCE wireless.

I too have an NCE PowerCab system that I use at the workbench to test locos and check decoder programming. I’ve had not one problem with the system and am very satisfied.

My main layout system is EasyDCC and it has been a solid performer as well.

I did have a PB105 NCE booster go south on me … I sent it in to NCE and they called me once they figured out what the issue was. They explained to me how to prevent this problem in the future (my boo-boo), so I thought they went above and beyond to take the time to help me prevent future problems. I did have to pay for repairs since it was out of warranty, but overall I was pleased with the service and got the repaired booster back in short order.

I have an NCE Wireless system, and just got off the phone with NCE regarding returning my RB01 to be converted to a repeater. They gave me instructions on returning the unit, as well as why I could not upgrade this myself. Cutting traces on the PC board per schematic and installing some jumpers would be a “piece of cake” for me, HOWEVER, a chip needs to re-programmed, and I do not have the equipment for that, so off to NCE it goes… NCE has been very professional in any conversations that I have had with them.

Don’t get me wrong here. Larry has always been very pleasant to speak with. But they dont know where my Pro cab is and that is what is making me nervous. In speaking with Larry everything that was sent in around the time my was has been repaired and returned. They have no record of mine being repaired or returned on thier shipping logs. If it takes two months for repair so be it ,just tell me that.

Again, this isnt the end of the world. But I sure would feel better knowing they have it or whatever.

Larry just called they found it and are repairing it now!

Woohoo! Go news, Repairman! [:)][tup]

Whose desk did they find it under?
