i have been planing my layout still trying to win over the parents what is the quality and ease of use of the nce procab and which one should i get to tart with i will run 2 trains max at the start
Jacob,
I also commented over on your other post on the Layout forum.
Go with the new PowerCab. The quality is excellent and, from what I’ve been able to see and read from their manual that you can download off the NCE website, it’s very intuitive to use. It’s identical to the ProCab throttle but has it’s own power supply that you plug into the wall.
With 1.7 amps output, you should have no problem running up to 4 or 5 locomotives with the PowerCab. List is $180 but can be found at discount for $140 from Empire Northern and Tony’s Train Exchange.
If your layout grows or you want to upgrade or expand, your PowerCab can be used with their PowerHouse Pro system and incorporated into and used as an additional throttle. The only downside that I can see is that it doesn’t have a knob or lever for increasing speed. Instead it has a scroll wheel, which for some may not like.
Jacob, download the manual so that you can get a better look at it.
