NCE Smart Booster

I am looking to expand my Powercab and while looking up info on the smart booster I cannot find the info on what cabling it comes with nor can I locate the hookup instructions. Does anybody know of a site that may include specific instuctions and pictures. I am looking to install two additional panels and I am a little confused as to what cables and supplies to order.

I read somewhere that with the smart booster you can unplug the powercab? Does this mean you can plug it in anywhere and still retain all the functions?

Check NCE’s web site for information about the Smart Booster.

I have searched many sites and there is no list which states what is included and no posted info. Thanks for the attempt.

John,

I know that NCE is supposed to bring out the SmartBooster at some point. When, exactly, is still a mystery. Once things get closer to becoming a reality, I’m sure that NCE will have something more definitive on their web site. John, you could e-mail them and ask them directly. Larry is usually pretty good about getting back to you.

Tom

According to Larry at NCE their goal is about two more weeks before the Smart Booster is available.

I still don’t see the install instructions yet, but I am sure they will be ready soon.

John,

Do you know or understand the difference between the Smart Booster and the DB3 boosters. The DB3 is pictured exactly the same as the Smart Booster on the NCE web site and is described as such:

I’m curious how that is wired in. From the description, it sounds like it might be piggy-backed onto the PC/SB combination (through one of the throttle connector ports?)…or the other way around.

BTW, is the pic of the DB3 visable to the rest of you? I actually copied and pasted the picture and description off the NCE web site. It is visible as a edit the post and in the preview - although I have to do some funky things to the quote commands and font size in order for it to view correctly.

Tom

tstage:

Yes, the DB3 photo copied fine.

Hey Tom,

I am asking so I can minimize the visible cables. I would hope that all the cables will be in the back of the panels. I would like as clean an intall as possible.

John,

I agree with you. The Smart Booster sure won’t be as appealing if all the cables make it look like a rat’s nest…

Tom

I don’t know any that DON’T connect via the back. NCE’s panels, Digitrax’s panels, CVP’s panels, the ones Tony’s sells - they all connect to the command station and/or other panels via connectors ont he back side, the only thing on the front are the jacks where you plug your throttles into.
