NE Ohio modelers: Railfest 3/16 & 3/17

Anyone going to Railfest this year? I’ll be there as usual on Saturday. I hope it’s better than it was last year. Seemed a number of the usual vendors didn’t show.

Tom

Unless something drastic happens I’ll be there on Saturday. Like you, I was disappointed with last years show.

I need a couple of sound decoders. I just hope there are a couple of vendors with competitive prices.

Allan,

The guys from Eastern Ohio Trains (?) are usually there at both the Lakeland and Berea shows. I don’t remember how competitive their prices were though.

Tom

Hello Tom I will be there on saturday also. I have not been to this show in a few years. Is it still a good show ? It sounds like last year was ok. Have a nice day Frank

As mentioned, Frank, last year was somewhat disappointing because some of the vendors I wanted to see weren’t there. It was also an EXTREMELY nice and pleasant day on Saturday. (It hit at least 79 degrees.) That could have been part of the reason not as many folks showed up to the show. I’m hoping it will be better this year.

I did manage to pick up some Northeastern Scale Lumber 4 x 8 strips, a couple of NYC locomotives pics (Dreyfuss J-3a Hudson #5450 and a H-10a 2-8-2 Mike) and an ExactRail B&O M-53 Wagontop boxcar in the '37 scheme last year. This year I’ll be looking for a Bowser 4-bay H-22 hopper like this:

I may see if someone has a good deal on one of the two 2-car MTH '40 20th Century Limited sleeper sets. I’ve been VERY happy with the 5-car set and the single sleeper car I bought in January. [Y][Y] I need to get my list together so I don’t forget anything.

Tom

I am not spending $7.00 for admittance and $6.00 for gas on the chance I may find something.

Rick J

Well, you can spend just as much going to a movie. At least they let you talk during the train show. [:)]

Tom

I can go to 2-1/2 Movies for $13.00, and at least I get something for my money!

Rick J

Like Jujubes and used gum stuck to the back side of your pants? [(-D] I’d rather take my chances at the train show…

Tom

A week from tomorrow for anyone interested…

Hi, Tom

I’ll see you there. Forget about housing starts, jobs creation, the DOW and interest rates as a gauge of the US economy. This show, for me, is the leading economic barometer worth watching… I hope it IS better this year, too.

I’ll look for the vendor who sells the DVD movies and buy one and take it home where the beer and popcorn is much cheaper!

I look forward to seeing you then…

Ed

…[bump]…5 more days…

Hey Ed,

What time are you planning on being at the show?

Tom

Hi Tom

My estimate is between 10:30 and 11 on Saturday. Sometimes the line stretches pretty far when the doors first open so I find that being a little late doesn’t hurt.

I assume you will be in your black NYC hat? I’ll be meeting up with Mark, his dad and another friend.

See you soon[:D] ED

Ed,

Yes, I’ll be there with my black NYC hat…and bearded. [:O] It will be nice Mark and Bob again. I saw them briefly at the Berea show back in October. Mark said that he was still enjoying that Proto 2000 0-8-0 he bought the year before.

Just in case we miss each other, Ed, does your cell phone still end in “48”? Look forward to seeing you on Saturday…

Tom

Hello Tom did you say beard? Well you better look for me I probably wont recognize you. I will have a blue #1 dad hat on. Ed, Allen if you see me say hi. Have a nice day Frank

What is everyone looking for?

Some B&O heavyweights to go with my BLI President class Pacific that is due to arrive tomorrow[:D]

Look at all that fancy striping! I bought this from MB Klein for a very reasonable cost…

I’m finding out those B&O passenger modelers don’t have much to choose from in off-the-shelf equipment!

Ed

[bump]…Tomorrow be the day. [dinner]
