Well, i returned from the Northeast Ohio Railfest a bit poorer, but with some items i have been seeking for a while. 2 brand new Kato USRA heavy 2-8-2s were purchased for 100 dollars each, and are going to become B&O Q-4s. A couple nice Red Caboose X29 boxcars round out the models i found that i wanted. But, the books and pictures! Found some great photos of several classes of B&O hoppers i have been seeking, including a very clear 3/4 B end view of the odd W1 class. And the books West End, The Magnificent EM-1 (if you like big steam, you gotta get this book) and a copy of the B&Os standard construction guide, which shows standards for everything from turnouts, to tunnel portals, to water tanks, to no trespassing signs. All in all, a great trip to the show! A good show this year with a very very large turnout. Anyone else get any goodies while they were there?
Picked up a V & O covered hopper kit. Shame for the both the show and the college concerning the sprinkler system in the main gym. First time I ever saw mirrors used at a model railroad show! Very convincing too!
I managed to walk in, walk through, and walk out unscathed. There wasn’t really anything that I “needed”. I thought about buying a couple of DVDs but talked myself out of those. I also saw a couple of brass NYC cabooses that were tempting but, again - didn’t bite. (Didn’t really have the cash to throw around.) I sometimes just find it fun to poke around a show, just to see what’s there.
A good day overall - even if I didn’t bring anything home.

My son and I had a great time.
I got 2 three packs of Branchline Blueprint NYC boxcars for $15 each. (thats 5 dollars a car) The last time I purchased 1 of these cars it cost $17.
5 Proto kits.
A dvd and toy truck for my son (he fell asleep in my arms at the show…priceless)
2-8-8-0,
Any chance that Standard Construction Book that you speak of might have something about the B&O station in Leipsic that I’m looking for??!?
Thanks.

It may well, it has several “standard” plans for Freight and Passenger stations. Let me see if i can find some pics of the actual Leipsic dept and see if anything matches.
Contact me off of the forum & I’ll send you a couple… I sent you an email through the forum earlier.

My son and I went on Sunday. Pretty much walked through unscathed, altho on our last pass through we decided to pick up some Roundhouse Ore cars for $3 each. Then, since we’d bought something, we had to get more… So I picked up some track bumpers.
Was severely tempted by a Southern 2-8-0, but didn’t jump…
Tom,
