NE Ohio Train show: March 15th & 16th

For those interested, this coming weekend NMRA Mid-Central Region (MCR) Division 5 is having their annual train show, Railfest 2008. As usual, it will be in Kirtland, OH @ Lakeland Community College, which is about 25 minutes east of Cleveland off of 1-90. It’s a good show and there is always plenty of things to see and buy there.

Doors open at 10 AM on both Saturday and Sunday till 4 PM. Admission is $5 per individual/$10 per family. I’ve included a link below to a flyer that contains all the important info:

Hope that a number of you will be able to make it. I plan on being there Saturday for most of the day. I’ll be the tall fella with the black New York Central t-shirt and red jacket.

Tom

I will be there. Its always a good show!

AN IMPORTANT UPDATE

I’ve been notified that the location has changed slightly. It is still at LCC, but because of a flooding issue it will NOT be in the usual location - the gym/rec area. They are currently working out the details as to where everything will be at, but look for signs indicating the changed location.

Tom,I would love to attend that show again-I did once 4 or 5 years ago-but,sadly due to another comment for Saturday I will not make it…Sunday I have must needs to go to the club and fetch my locomotives for their 90 day inspection and maintenance.

Will you be attending the Milan(Avery) show on 03/30/08?

I would love to get a group from this forum together for a sit down “howdy do” over coffee.

Jerry,

Thanks for the update. That’s too bad about the flooding. Is that due to the big snowfall we just had, or something else?

Larry,

Didn’t know about the Milan/Avery show on the 30th. I assume you mean the area just above Norwalk? Where is it going to be at exactly?

That would be fun for a number of us to meet up there. I wouldn’t be able to be there until 1:30 or 2:00 PM. Keep me posted. I’ll do my best to be there.

Tom

Jerry just found out today that I will be in canada again all this weekend. I am starting to hate this job It gets in the way of my hobbies[:P]. Oh well let me know how it is if you go.

Tom,

The Milan show will be held at the Ehove(sp?) JVS.Indeed Milan is a few miles above Norwalk-around 70-75 miles for me but,its worth the trip IMHO.

If the weather and health holds I plan on going.

Hello Thanks Tom for the heads up. My dad and I will be there on saturday. I will keep a eye out for you. Have a nice day Frank

Hey, Frank!

I remember we met at the Berea show. It would be nice to meet your dad.

Tom

I hope to be able to get there this weekend, although I think I have to work Sat (bummer).

Thanks for the reminder. This is a great show with a lot of vendors. I went last year and it was a great show and gave me a good reason to stop by Stewart’s Hobbies in Willoughby since I was in the area.

ACD,

Rob (Stewart) usually has a few tables at Railfest every year. He mans the tables at the show while his wife keeps the store open on Saturday.

bump…

yep, definitely have to work Saturday. So I will hopefully be able to make the show on Sunday…hope those flooding problems don’t cause too much trouble for the show…

Any more info on the changed location? I will have a 2 year old and hate to be on the wrong side of the college.

Grog,

I think it will be pretty much in the same location. The gym will be the one area that won’t be in use. If it is somewhere else on campus, I’m sure they’ll have signs up near the entrance off SR 306 to direct us to the right place.

Someone told me this evening that the LCC baseball team is to blame for the flooding. They were practicing in the gym and someone nailed one of the sprinkler heads with a ball. That would do it.

I’m Surprised that it’s only till 4 on both days usally on saturday it’s always 5 or 6 before they close up shop
