Neat little digital sound module!

Hello All

I recently installed a grade crossing and was in search of a crossing bell sound module. I bought one of the ITTS HQ sound modules and, well, it’s good… but not perfect. I think the bell recording could be a little better. To me it seems like there’s too much background noise in the recording. Wind? Rumble? Ambient noise?

Anyway, I searched e-Bay and bought two of these 20 second sound recorders. What I’m going to do is remove the pc board, ditch the sub-micro speaker and place it around different areas of the layout.

I’ve already recorded fire engine sirens and I’m pretty impressed with the sound quality. So if you’re looking for a cheap recordable sound module, here it is. The one minor drawback is that the sounds do not “loop” i.e. when you press the playback button and hold it the sound only plays once. It is fun when children visit the layout and they press the button on the fascia the sound plays… they love it! I have the fire engine lights flash and the siren sound play when the button is pushed and it adds just the right animation to make the layout “interactive”

Thanks… ED

Neat item. I’m glad I don’t need one, the shipping to me here in Canada is quoted as US$38.00! Maybe they would hand deliver it for that amount! Shouldn’t really cost much more than US$2.00 in a bubble envelope, I’ve received similar small items for less than this.

It always pays to check the shipping costs!
