Neat Packaging Photos! 🎁

Here is the box with the Air Chime whistle Controller. These boxes are hard to find because they were frequently tossed after the controller was put on a control panel. Not shown are the 706 remote uncoupler, the 690 track terminal and the track pieces that were included in the set.

The yellow label is really neat, I think. Your knowledge of this overall topic is amazing @AmFlyerTom

I posted above about the Kleer-Pak boxes Gilbert briefly used for separate sale rolling stock. In 1965 Gilbert introduced the open front picture window boxes for All Aboard items. The plastic wrapping was fragile but it was less expensive than the Kleer-Paks. This only lasted for 1965 and 1966 because Gilbert declared bankruptcy and liquidated in 1967. This track cleaning car box has never been opened.

These aren’t very rare, but I always try to find the Plasticville boxes with the Disneyland sticker. Haven’t found an actual entry blank but I printed out an image of one side of one to show what they looked like.

Hmm… I wonder if Aurora got the packaging for their slot cars from this.

It is the same concept.

Here is a box I wouldn’t have minded finding on Christmas morning under the tree.

This comes from the Lionel/Ives transition period. By this time Lionel had pretty much dropped the Ives name and was marketing the old Ives designed trains as Lionel Jr.

I will post the box and its contents on the Ives thread, once I take a few more photos.

These Lionel 1550 mechanical train switches would be from the about same period as the Lionel Jr. boxes that Northwoods-Flyer posted above. I really like the simple but elegant design on the box:

I didn’t know that Junior had it’s own logo!

I have never seen a Lionel mechanical locomotive with my own eyes

Matt, Lionel mechanicals aren’t very common - they were only made from 1931-1937. It’s even more difficult to find them with a working motor!

I don’t have much familiarity with mechanicals. I only have one. It is a Hafner and still works.

That’s the first box for Lionel’s mechanical trains I’ve ever seen outside of handcar boxes which are quite different.

Penny, when I saw it for sale, I had to have it because I had never seen one before. Collecting track and boxes are a whole 'nother hobby within the hobby!

For comparison, here is a Marx #501 Mechanical Switch Set box:

…and just for fun, Unique Arts #104 box of straight track:
