Neat product seen at Toronto Xmas train show

even though the web site gives very little information it describes perfectly what this gizmo does . it’s plastic box about 3 inches by 2 inches by half an inch high , and when placed on your track it measures the grade in % and the incline (for superelevation) in inches . very neat for getting the grade just right , developed to check the grade on an outdoor G layout after winter frost damage .

I looked at that as well and thought what a great idea. What did you think of the show? I was there Saturday and thought it was smaller then last year. I was kind of hoping Jason from Rapido would have been there, I would have liked to have seen his Turbo Train preproduction model in person. CMT had the preproduction True Line Trains CN cabooses there and WOW, are they ever nice. I’ll be ordering a few of them when they are released in December. No Georges Trains either, I wonder whats going on, it seems some of the bigger vendors are staying away from it over the last few years.

My impression of the show is that it was always same ol’, same ol’ every year – though I must say I haven’t been since '03.

From what I was led to understand last year, was that the venue has raised the prices so high that a number of the vendors could not justify renting space. This year, there was a large area of the hall that was curtained off that could have been rented to Clubs and vendors if the rental prices had not been so high. It seems a case of “Penny wise and Pound foolish”. Lower the rates slightly for everyone and sell more spaces to fill the hall. [sigh]
