Hi Guys,
Got a photo of a small critter that works in a local pipe and plate steel mill, but have no idea what it is or who made it.
It looks like a single set of trucks with a cab on top!
This thing has been around since I was a little kid, so its at least 44 years old.
It has been kept up fairly well, and works every day
Need someone to ID it for me.
My limited collection of books has no info on this one.
E-mail me with a address I can send the photo to.
…Ed, I’ve seen an animal as such in the past somewhere but right now I can’t even remember where it was. I’ve been around areas of Steel Mills in the past in Pennsylvania and maybe that’s where I’ve seen it…
If it has off rail tires (like a farm tractors tires) it would probably be a Trackmobile. Can operate on rail and move off rail to another track. Capacity - usually - of one load or two empties. Sometimes had train air.
Ok Ed, I think I found it. I have one question though. Does it have side rods ??? Because thc cab screams that its a Davenport 25 to 35 ton built sometime between 1927 & 1956 . It looks like it has had its hood rebuilt. That’s the best I can do.[:D]
