Need Advice for a Beginner

Hello yep there is a lot of stuff there. 25 locos 25-35 feet of track the big Thomas is a tunnel and a carrying case . No this is not a set. But they do sell a huge Thomas set that would give what you see a run for its money but the wife said no. My nephew had the big Thomas and a few locos but lost interest in trains. And when my girl would go over his house all she wanted to do was play with his trains so they came home with us. Then my buddy bought a storage unit and it had some stuff in there and he gave it to her. And then there is me I would get a loco or two at walmart they are not priced to bad some were 3$-8$ and came with a piece of track. It took a year or so to get all that stuff . But the mane thing is WE HAVE FUN playing trains. Have fun Frank

While a Brio or other wood train set is good for a 4 year old by himself, what he’ll really love is a Lionel set with smoke, whistle, and bell. NYC or Pennsylvania Flyer would be a good starter set. You can add action acessories and cars to it for Christmas presents.

Enjoy

Paul

Also worth considering are the Lego trains. They are approximately O size, DC electric to satisfy the urge to run trains, colorful for play value, and have the creative stimulation of any building toy. These are always a big hit with the kids at our multi-scale club shows.
