Need advice on DC sound controllers.

Sorry for the late response everyone, I was involved with some other tasks and almost forgot to check this thread. Based on the input on here, along with my own research and the fact that I have 80 DC locomotives, also the fact that the BLI PRR T1 only comes with DCC and sound, I think that the Tech 6 would definitely be worth looking into. Thank you everyone for your help and input.

That’s 3 questions really.

BLI Master (in at least 3 hardware versions) will only operate DCC functions in a BLI quantum equipped locomotive. I infer that BLI created a device that signals their Quantum decoders by flipping DC polarity momentarily as their original Quantum decoders allowed for in DC using the powerpack reversing switch. The big plus is the Master is completely compatible with regular DC power and does not ever have to be taken out of circuit.

MRC developed a different device: the Blackbox which is now also part of a Tech 6 unit. These cannot send DCC signals through DC compatible current. Both deliver full DCC power and commands when in dual mode and no commands at all when feeding power to a DC locomotive. Indeed, the Blackbox cannot be used for DC power and must be taken out of circuit to run DC only. Tech 6 does not deliver normal DC power. It can simulate DC for one DC locomotive. You must be careful not to try to run a DC locomotive with the Tech 6 set for dual mode.

Most of not all currently marketed DCC with
