Need advice on lubrication

My HO Bachmann Spectrum diesles , a couple of them, have developed a high-pitch noise when running at pretty much any speed. They’ve been running for 6 month now, 2-3hrs every day.
I am at loss where the noise is coming from. Gears seem to have enough lube, motor brushes look OK too. Can it be motor shaft just before th flywheel ?

Also is sewing machine oil OK to lubricate that shaft in the motor ?

Usually a drop of oil at the end of the motor shaft, and one behind each wheel.

Sewing machine oil is really 3-in-1 oil. That’s fine for anything with all metal gears and bearings, but it’s not such a good idea on newer engines with a lot of plastic. Your best bet is to go down to your hobby shop and get a bottle of medium weight LaBelle brand oil. It’s plastic safe, and comes with a needle oiler to allow much, much more precise control of where you’re putting the oil than you get with 3-in-1.
