Need Advise Setting Up A 4x8 HO Railway!

Hello Everybody,

I was just wondering about setting up an interesting 4x8 HO Scale Railway.
Does anyone have any advise or know where I can Get railway plansfor free on the internet.

Thanks very much!

Kristian

There are some track plans on here. Go to modelrailroading and click on planning, There are I think 4 of them.
www.atlasrr.com has a few or you can go to google and try searching for some track plans on the web or in the image section.
hope this helps

I don’t know whether this will help but I have a webpage on a better arrangement of a 4x8 in a small room:

http://www.pacificcoastairlinerr.com/4x8/track_plan/

In fact the original idea was from the Atlas’ HO King-Sized Railroad Plan book presented by John Armstrong, of rearranging the 4x8 shape.

Hope that helps

You might also take a look at the NMRA Introduction to Model Railroading pages at:
http://www.nmra.org/beginner/

There is a lot of info there including how to plan for expansion as you build.

This site has some plans, it’s under ABC’s of model railroading http://www.trains.com/Content/Dynamic/Articles/000/000/001/215lorqk.asp
It shows sections for track pieces and buildings. It also has some drawings for building the table under the 4x8. Between that and the NMRA pages Roger mentioned you should be able to get some good ideas.
You can also set up the table and arrange and rearrange the track until you get something you like and is fun to operate, then put down roadbed, scenery etc.
Enjoy
Paul
