need an N.P. expert please

I just acquired a Kato N.P. business car “Yellowstone”, in what I assumed was the colors of of the north coast limited ,though honestly the Pict’s I seen of it didn’t look correct color wise. SOOOOOOO now that I have it ,yep its NOT NCL colors the light green is of a “yellowish” hue and the dark grn is more of a pullman grn,so Put it in consist on the back of NCL (not proto) for kicks ,and I amost died it clashed so bad.

Now I,m not saying its the wrong color cause I dont know ,so I ask, should it match some what or was it (proto) a complete different paint job from the NCL ? is there a site that has picks of this VERY nice car ?

oh this is my first KATO ,its nice and well done ,rolls like a dream with contacts ,but some of the details mite be a bit husky, but I like it …Jerry

The Kato business car is available in a number of roadnames, so it is probably not an accurate NP car.

The Kato car is definitely not an NP car. It’s a CB&Q car (the BURLINGTON), and I don’t think there were any others like it.

As to color, the best reference is the color sample packet from the NP historical society. If your car matches, it’s the right color, anyway.

I have 2 of the Kato business cars… CB&Q and NP. In both of mine I installed the Kato lighting kit which was a good improvemnt.

Yes, the NP car does not have the correct colors. It seems like every time another manufacturer produces an NP two-tone green car, they use 2 new tones of green that do not match any other manufacterer. My NCL (North Coast Limited) with various makes of cars has more tones of green than I can count. My opinion is Walthers is closer to what I remember to be the correct colors… Kato’s greens are “yucky” in my opinion.

Are you interested in the Raymond Lowey paint scheme? The Northern Pacific Railway Historical Association has a Northern Pacific Color Drift Card Set that shows the colors of the North Coast Limited trains. Since you have no photo of your car, it’s pretty hard to say if the colors are right or not.

OK ;that makes perfect since, NOW I have licence to repaint or just tone over the kato dark green & re decal the top part .[;)] as mentioned just two many tones a green in one train,hurts my eye’s…Jerry

mine’s not that bad when I take a picture, I’ll post it for the color comparisons.
