Hello
On the CP AC4400’s and the SD90MAc’s
What are the lighting effects?
AC4400: head light, number boards, ditch, anything near the door?
Same with the SD90mac’s
Does CP operate flashing ditchlights?
Thanks

No, CP does NOT use flashing ditchlights…they keep them on when they are moving.
Modern CP is just Headlight/ditchlights…go back 15 years and you can put clasification lights in the mix.

I have seen pics of lights coming out of the door.
That’s probably the interior cab lights, or down by the bath room and sleeping bunks.
Yup…toilet light.
David
is it worth indicating in lights?
for doing DCC lighting effects with it
Are you asking about clasification lights? They are hard to pull off correctly.
David
no on the link i sent, its got a light coming out of the door, is worth it to do that light?
Not really. You will only see that light if its dark.
Alec
Blue Box Athearns came with that light built in!

The lower single light is a walkway light, (the ditch lights are off) and is next to the door not in it, (in-line with the headlights). The photo is over-exposed, which is why it looks as bright as the headlights, normally it just illuminates the walkway and you would just see a faint glow.
I have lit these in the past with some fiber optics, (truck and step lights as well), but generally it’s more of a pain than what it’s worth. I did this pre-DCC and lit them from the headlight bulb, now with DCC I would certainly light the “safety lights” with their own source.
Here’s a FREE photo editing program: http://www.irfanview.com/ It’s sort of a “lite” Photo Shop. Once installed, open the photo, (photo has to be saved to your computer first), then click on the Image menu and click on Enhance Colors and adjust the Gamma Correction to lighten the photo until you can make out some of the details, (this won’t change the original photo until you do File>Save). Here’s the result:
If you’ve been using Windows to look at photos you may have to goto (Irfan) Options>Set File Associations for jpegs and bpm. If you photo files have the little Irfan icon, then it’s all set.
I noticed on the Kato SD90Mac’s the ditch lights are in the wrong spot, is it worth it to put them in the correct spot?
Has anyone done this project?
