Hi all,
I’m building my first HO layout and wanted to do a short stretch of mainline in a C-Shape, with a few sidings. However, I’ve had a hard time finding a layout design, so I was hoping you could help me. Thank you!
Here is a web site that has many different size layouts.
There are many helpful people there that can help you out.
Welcome to the forum. Before you get to a track plan, you need to know what you want the layout to be: lots of yards for switching, long main line, mountains, forests, tunnels, cities or some other activity. Look at mags and web sites and find out which ideas interest you. If you want a huge trestle, you need to plan around that. If you want lots of elevation change, you need to sacrifice yard space to make the grades. Let’s talk some more. Planning takes a while.
Well, my initial inspiration came from the Cat Mountain and Santa Fe layout shown in Model Railroad Planning 2004. I like the bare scenery approach. I would like to have a small staging yard on one end, and then mainline, with some industry sidings along the way and then continue the mainline off the layout across my basement. I have a sketch drawn on paintshop, but I don’t know how to post it![:D]
Now you are cooking. To down load pics:
-
Have the pics in your computer in a place that is easy to locate.
-
Have a hosting web site. I use photobucket .com, but there are others. It is free but you have to register and it could take a couple of days.
-
Download the pics you want into photobucket (what ever). The host sight will tell you haw to do that, sort of.
-
Copy and paste the IMG line (Bottom line in photobucket) into your post.
-
Preview your post to make sure it is what you want.
It must be easy, I learned to do it.
After I played with plans for a while, I layed the plan out full scale on the floor with blue masking tape. That helped, but I have already changed it 4 times. Let the fun continue.
Thank you so much for your help. I guess we shall see my track plan here in a couple of days![:)]
