need help removing cab glass from atlas rs-1

Anyone removed the cab glass from an atlas rs-1. I am going to repaint it and I need the glass out to do the stripping and painting.

HELP PLEASE!

You’ll probably have to pry it out with a small screwdriver or a hobby knife with a #17 blade, breaking the glue joint. I’ve done this many times, with varying results. Sometimes the glazing is all one piece and it breaks, but I’ve never had the actual window part break, just the attaching sections.

Thanks I was hoping there was a trick to not breaking the whole thing and having to glue it all back together.

The glass is still available from Atlas if you break it but I would suggest trying a couple of drops of debonder. It may soften up the c/c used to hold the glass in just enough to get it out.

I removed a couple on some older yellow box units a while back (I think the red box ones are the same). It can be a bit tricky based on the way they were designed and held in. From what I remember they are a one piece unit in that all wiindows are removed at once. You have to push in the front and rear windows and hold them there. Once you have that done the side windows can be pushed in and the whole unit can be worked out of the cab. I find that you have to work it from both sides to keep it coming out straight. I use a couple of small screwdrivers and even some dull xacto blades to keep the front and rear windows from poping back into their openings. Once you have one done it does become easier, however, it never becomes easy. From what I remember they never used any adhesive to mount the glass. I am not sure on the newer releases though.

Thanks dan. I had shimmed most of the windows away from the frames with various things. The ones I could not get were the upper windows by the arch of the roofline. I will try to pry those first then the rest after and see if that works. If not I will just break them.

I had to do that on an RS3 once. Those top windows can be the sticking point on these. I cut the small strut between the center section and the front/rear glass and removed it in 3 pieces. I was able to put them back in with no problems.
