Need Help with Decoder

I just purchased an Atlas Master GP40 locomotive. I’ve done everything the instructions said but i cant get the engine to move on DCC. It runs great on DC but on DCC it wont budge can someone help me?

Read the manual that came with the locomotive about START UP and SHUT DOWN.

Well its not sound equipped, its the old 2004 run of GP40’s. It has the 4 function dual mode decoder.

Sounds like you may have the jumper in the “DC” position.

Remove the dynamic brake hatch and check the jumper. It should be inserted in the pair of holes towards the front of the loco for DCC operation.

If it does not have sound, it is the old Atlas dual mode decoder that has a jumper plug that has to be moved to switch from DC to DCC operation. Again, look at the instruction sheet, which should show you where the jumper plug is and how to get to it. If the engine is used and doesn’t have the manual, you can download one from the Atlas Model Railroad Company web site.

I moved the plug from analog from DC to DCC and it still wont move.

WHat address are you using? De-facto standard default is 3, but Atlas sometimes set them to the last 2 digits of the cab number. Or just put it on your program track and set the address to what you want it to be,

Read back the decoders CV 1 setting. This will tell you the address.

The CV1 setting is 3 but that has no effect. I will try the last 2 #'s of the loco.

Does nothing work or it just won’t move ? Do the lights work with F0 ? If you have a programming track, try setting the address. If all else fails, reset the decoder and try address 3.

I just tried the last 2 #'s and it worked thank you all for helping me i really appritiate it!!!
