Need help with Photobucket

Need help with photobucket. How to get a (layout) photo on to the general discussion forum.

Not sure what a “screenshot” is as opposed to a photo from my file.

Thanks.

Sid

If the photo is already on Photobucket, here is what I do.

Double click on the photo.

Then, click on Share.

Then, click on Get Link Code.

Look down the list of choices to IMG for Bulletin Boards & Forums.

Copy and paste the URL for Full Size photo into your Post Message box on this forum.

Rich

Sid, a “screenshot” is simply a picture of what you’re seeing on your monitor at any given time. It’s not what you want for posting a photo here, though.

If I want to post a photo here from photobucket, I simply choose the photo, click on the thumbnail to enlarge it, then click on the info box beside the words IMG CODE. This automatically copies the picture data. In your composition window here, place the cursor where you want the picture to appear, and click on “PASTE”. A line of data will appear, and when you click on “POST”, the data will appear in your post as the picture.

Here’s a screenshot of what I see in photobucket when I wish to post the photo shown. Note the two “LINKS” shown at the right of the screen. There can be up to at least five links here, depending on how you set your account options. For posting here, the “IMG” line is the only one needed.

…and here’s the photo itself:

Photobucket works very well for me. I simply rest the mouse pointer on the photo thumbnail, a menu screen appears with four choices. I put the pointer on the IMG tag (last of the choices) and click once. That copies the photo data to my clipboard. I come to the forum, place the pointer where I want the photo, right click, click Paste and the IMG tag line appears. Complete the posting and click Post.

By the way, the OP solved it

It would have been nice if he came back to this thread and let people know

I am trying Jeff’s instructions,

Paul

It worked.

Thanks Jeff it was very easy to do following your instructions.

Glad I could help.

Thanks so much!

Sid

In addition to Jef’s instructions, one may wish to add to, (or correct) a post. Click on “More” on the thread page. Then click on “Edit” in the box that appears. To add more. photos, type in “Photobucket.com logim”. there will be a list of options. Click on “Image Hosting photos or videos on Photobucket”. Click on the photo that you wish to Add. Go to the Thread on Trains.co/forums Go to Edit in the upper left corner, and click on Paste. Correct or delete photos or text. Finally, click on “Post”. Bob Hahn

When that happens, and it does on occasion, then I am sorry that I replied to the OP in the first place.

It would be nice to know which of the solutions offered on this thread was the one that he used.

Rich

Probably none. The first reply was on the 26th and his thread on the ‘Layouts’ forum started on the 25th unless he went back and edited in the photo info.

Thought I would try all of your helpfull suggestions. My kid put this picture on Photobucket for me a year ago. Unable to understand pc terms leaves me helpless but maybe this will work. Hear goes.

And it’s so easy.

This is the lower deck which is mostly helix and yards. What a mess huh? Now that I see how easy this works I called my son and told him to bring my camera back.

Thank you all,

This can become addictive. Figure out what albums you might like because your photos can be difficult to find when the list becomes quite large.

In case you are not aware of this, you can edit/remove photos you do not like in the forums and replace them here.

BUT. If you remove or move a photo into another album in Photo Bucket, the photo will disappear from any forum you had posted the photo to. Not sure this has changed though. I use to get a warning when I tried this.

Rich

You’re right: I’ve got 47 sub-albums, but with over 4,000 photos, finding the right one can still be difficult. I usually just add a new one. [swg]

Yeah, if you delete a picture from photobucket, or move it to another album, the link to wherever you’ve posted it will be broken.

Wayne

Wayne, you and Rich are absolutely correct.

I have far, far fewer than 4,000 photos on Photobucket, perhaps 100, but I have not created albums or sub-albums, and the problem of finding photos is already there.
