I made a new graphic for the RIP track in January featuring the Avatars and User Names of our departed friends.
I would like to add avatars for Tom M*** and Alan B. Does anyone know their favorite railroad or another appropriate icon that can replace the generic weeble?
Thank you.

When I was assembling the yearbook, I found dozens of members that had just abruptly disappeared. I am pretty certain we could have fifty or so names on the RIP track if it was researched.
I don’t see any reason to do that, but if there is someone missing that should be honored there, let me know.
Research has suggested that Alan B’s actual name was [name removed]
His user ID has been rolled into Anonymous, so it is difficult to research much from there. I have looked at threads where he posted links to photos of his railroad, but none of the links work now.
It looks like he had a private roadname called the BAH Railroad. This is difficult because when I google “bah model railroad” I get a zillion results with “bah” used as an interjection.
Does anyone know what the initials “BAH” stood for?
Have you published your criteria for inclusion in your RIP compilation? Are you open to suggestions for inclusion, or have you pretty much settled on the names you show?
These are the names that have been on the RIP track in Jeffrey’s Diner for years.
When a new one is added, it is because of discussion among the Diner participants. I have had nothing to do with any of the names being added, and it is not “my” list at all.
If there is a name that should be added… please bring it up in a post in Jeffrey’s Diner. I will do whatever is decided.
My humble opinion is that any forum member who has passed on should be included in the RIP track thing. Beyond that, if “discussion” is required (other than determining if someone is really dead) then it begins to sound like a popularity contest.
The naming of the diner and the list of passed members was started long ago. In fact the diner has been here since I can remember and was once IIRC headed by Chief Eagles (I may not have that right) and then was called Elliots Diner in honor of another diner patron who passed before the denizens of the diner decided to rename it in honor of Jeffrey another noteworthy patron, more the head of it than anything. We never tried to name all the frequent posters on the site, just honor the folks that were in the diner a lot. I have no issue honoring all the frequent posters and the current patrons sort of nominate and list by chance. If I have that wrong or I’ve offended anybody, feel free to chime in. My [2c] J.R.
Before this gets crazy… the RIP track has been on page 1 of the Diner for more than a decade. It is just a memorial, and I am trying to make it more meaningful. Memorials are very special to me.
I just need information on Tom M*** and Alan B**** so I can make their memorial appropriate. I hope someone can help. I would really like to know what the BAH Railroad was named.
Any other discussion about the RIP Track should be taken over to the Diner where others that know can explain it better. I really have little knowledge of how the list originated. I am just trying to make it more meaningful out of respect for what it is.
Gidday Crandell, while the RIP Track may have been originally started for Diner Patrons who passed away, it soon became a memorial for all past Forum contributors.
While there have been no published criteria, there has been no suggestion of a popularity contest, either.
The only discussion in previous Diner conversations, has been as in the case of tomikawaTT Chuck, as to the members actual passing.
As far as I’m concerned, and I’d suggest I’d certainly be not on my own, any Forum Member who is aware that a fellow member has passed away can, and perhaps should, bring it to, at least, the Diners attention so that former member can be ad
Someone with a better memory than I needs to chime in. But as I recall, when I first joined, the Trackside Diner originally had another name and there was no “RIP Track”. I think the purpose was to have a place for members to have a place to discuss various trivia, personal or otherwise, not related to any specific model/prototype topic.
Jeffrey-Wimberly, a prolific poster, had many friends on the forum. I believe that the only person(s) with a higher post count is Annoymous. He passed away (Jeffrey, not Annoymous), and someone suggested that the name of this forum be changed to Jeffrey’s Trackside Diner. That question was posed, and no one objected. Hence the name change. I believe that there still was no “RIP” track.
Somewhere that got added. As time has gone on, other members have added various embelishments. Sometimes simpler things are better.
Again, my feelings won’t be hurt if someone with a better memory corrects me.
This probing for general information about members - even deceased - is borderline invasion of privacy. There are also unscrupulous folks on the dark web who look for any information they can to help them link to and create false identities for nefarious purposes. It’s called ghosting.
[Side note: Look at the tidbits of information that you were able to glean or deduce about Tom M just perusing old threads on the forum. I’m not accusing you of anything, Kevin, but this is the same type of behavior used by identity thieves. Granted, a MRRing forum is not a likely place for them to dredge for personal information. However, information about anyone can be found online with a little probing. Even a personal email address that includes first, middle initial and last name and is posted in a profile that is accessible to others is opening yourself up to potential harm.]
Some folks want to keep there identity unknown while others are more open. So, I’m removing the last names of Tom and Alan from this thread, as well as the avatar callouge with the last names included above the avatar. Please feel free to repost it in the thread with the names removed and let the chosen forum names in the avatar suffice alone when adding it to the Diner next month.
Because of a recent glitch or update to the forum server, I currently have NO access to read or post PMs. Otherwise, I would have posted the above in a PM to you rather than posting it here in this thread. I will lock the thread and delete it early next week.
Thanks,
Tom
P.S. And please read and take note of the side note that I added to my earlier post.
