This is kind of a stupid question, I am just about to finish up on my engine yard, It is N scale, and I have seen a lot of layouts that have what looks like cement down for the engine facility, it also goes down the center of the track. Is this really some type of plaster or is it sold pre-made that you can just glue down. I Hope I made myself clear…Mike
I’m sure there a variety of ways to reproduce this, but I would personally use styreme painted the appropriate color. It is easy to cut and much less messy than plaster.

Especially for N I would agree with the plastic floor. I did an O scale one once with plaster, it was Ok but quite messy.
Just to add to Elliot’s response, plaster, even in HO can be difficult to manage. I made
some rail crossings using plaster and it was very messy. On my current layout the crossings will be done with styrene. If you have the patience and and are willing to do a lot
of track cleaning plaster will do. But for a larger area such as a engine facility I would recommend styrene. Good luck. Dave
Heck for N Scale a peice of good old gray heavy cardboard stock will do the trick.
