Been looking for information on this train set for along time no one knows anything its like a ghost any info would help
What kind of info are you looking for ? Seems like you’ve already got the box, or at least access to it - what more do you want to know ? For what it’s worth, in the upper left corner of the box it says “Life-Like”, which was - and may still be - either the manufacturer or at least the distributor of this train set and many other hobby items, esp. for trains.

ever sense lif-like was sold they either lost anyinfo or never had it on this train set ive emailed walther and they have no idea what this is ive givin the model # and everything i could think of… im saying the rugged mountain railway doesnt exsist in any data bank anywhere and im reaching out to find out what it may be worth and if anyone has ever seen it before
My guess is that it is a 70’s or 80’s era train set, and as such would have little or no value to anyone but a LifeLike trainset collector, if you can find such a beast.
Did you try the 800 number on the front of the box?
Looks like there might be a model or part number in front of the loco on the side of the box.
i tried the model number the ref number and the 800 # was no longer in service
i emailed life-like and walther the new owner and nothing
It may not be worth much with this i can agree but alittle history on the product would be pretty cool
just thought it was strange that i cant find anyhting on it
Quick search, sorry I cannot make a live link.

Hum, guess that is your E Stupid listing. (E-Stupid is not a reflection on you, just what I call E-Bay)
Having started with cheap Like Like Train set’s new in the box 5 years ago of E-Stupid I would say the set is worth $55.00 max. It was not made by Walther’s but Life Like before they where bought. Life Like all so made Proto engines, Protos are great engines! Like Like on the other hand where pretty much junk, OK not pretty much.
I bought 3 sets NIB for $35.00 each. (before I knew names like Athearn, Atlas, BLI, PCM and Proto)
Good luck selling it if it is yours. If it does not sell for $199.99 try either parting it out ( I paid $10.00 for the Santa Fe Tower ) or around $50.00 as starting bid.
Cuda Ken
Life Like trains sets {or any “train sets” for that matter} are not known to be anything great.
My guess is it’s from the 60’s or 70’s and not in any current databank as it isn’t made any more, and probably ceased production before databases were made of inventory/production.
As Cuda Ken says On E-slay {what I call e-bay} might not fetch too much, I’m afraid. You really don’t have anything that is that special to be worth much, I’m afraid.
You have the original box and it looks in good shape, if you have a sealed box or all the included components you may have a little something there, but probably still not much.
Enjoy it or sell it to the highest bidder.
thanks cuda and galaxy that was the replie i was looking for
a little history and what it may be worth
yeah its brand new in the box and has never been open
ill check out cuda’s link shouldnt be hard thanks again everyone nice job [:D]
what ever it is don’t sell it .It might be of value someday keep it ! rambo1…
I didn’t check it before I posted my other post, but I see that cuda ken’s link shows a wanted starting bid of $199.99 which I think is a bit rediculous for the set- and it appears opened in the pic to show some contents which may or may not be complete- whereas yours is sealed in the box!!!. People don’t really collect Life Like train stuff as it is cheapo stuff-especially in train sets-even so today they are not considered to be, they are really meant to be played with and probably “abused” {“well loved”?} by kids as a starter set or for just under the xmas tree. It is a “Honda Civic” set compared to a “Rolls Royce” of a brass collectable engine set…
I think the strating bid is high for the opened set on the ebay listing. Just because an item is old or “vintage” doesn’t necessarily make it worth a lot. ANd it appears to me that no one has bid on that set yet.YOurs may be worth more because it IS a sealed box, though! If you don’t want it and can sell it for $200+ on E-bay go for it! GOod Luck!
