I purchased a Locomotive off eBay solely for the shell. I wanted a E7B shell for a special project. The locomotive was listed as non operating, it not only work upon arrival but it ran very good. I decided to keep it as a E7B for another project. I have checked HO Seek and there isn’t any info on this locomotive so I’m asking for help finding an info sheet for it. I believe it to be a 1975 version from Model Power. Any info will be appreciated.

These were made by Roco of Salzburg, Austria. They’re very smooth runners. Roco did a number of engines for American companies. The 70’s era Atlas SD35 and GP38, as well as an FP7 were all done by Roco. IIRC, Roco also did an SD24 (high hood only) for Atlas.
Many of the Model Power E-units had a propensity to rattle as they picked up speed or slowed down. This is traceable to a sloppy fit in the u-joint couplings of the drive shafts. Inserting plastic or brass shims in the female part of the coupling usually cured it. Even with the original motor, these locos were smooth runners and good pullers, too.
I was quite surprised at how well it runs. The rare earth magnet can motor gives it plenty of power too. Who ever replaced the motor did a super job, the U joints don’t rattle at all. With the heavy Cary shell that it came with it will pull your socks off. I’m going to use it as a pusher for my E7A camera locomotive. I installed a 2.4Ghz wireless camera in a Proto 2000 shell/frame. The B has enough power to pull nine 5 ounce Athearn streamlined cars up my 3½% grades easily.
Thanks for all the input.
