My mother recently sent me my “inheritance”. It contains a Tyco spirit of '76 steamer and hopper. The box say’s Spirit Of America 247.
It was purchased by my grandpa.
Can anyone tell me how old it is and what it might be worth?
thank’s for any help.

You can take it to your local Hobby shop and they could give you an estimate of its value. Look on ebay for others like it, or you can put it up for bid and set the reserve price way high and see what others might think it is worth.

A search of ebay for a similar locomotive reveals the bidding to about 40 dollars closing today.
They probably wont go for much more than that unless the bidders got emotional and had a “War” to decide who had the most cash.
I think they are about 20 to 30 years old and if it is in good condition might be a keeper.
I personally am biased against Tyco products because to me they did not perform adequately when I was a child. But dont let my opinion stop or hinder your search for accurate information.
Best of luck!
It also came with three Spirit Of America box cars consecutivly numbered and an old time combine. All are still in the original boxes.
This might have been a Bicentennial set. If so, it dates from 1975-76.
this is a bi-centennial set and it came out in 1975…it’s a tyco so it’s not worth too much unless someone has sentimental values placed on that particular set…personnally i wouldn’t give you a plug nickel for it, but that’s just me …had some really bad experiences with tyco locomotives in younger days…my suggestion is put it on e-bay starting at a high bid and see what happens…chuck
