Need Parts for A Tyco Steam Engine

A while back I bought an old TYCO HO train set and the Steam engine is missing the front truck assembly and the light does not work. Other than that it runs great. Any idea where to get parts for it? and how to fix the light?

The engine is a 4-6-2 PACIFIC SANTE Fe T212C: 2795 (red box)

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks
Andrew

Thanks for the info, I appriciate the Help. It was a hard deal to pass up when I got the train. I got the engine, tender, caboose, tank car, flat car, gondola and 2 other cars and the original boxes and the box for the set they came in for $20. All are in good condition.

Thanks,

Andrew

You could try checking with Model Power, they bought Mantua (who made the Tyco line) a few years ago and are starting to reissue some of the equipment. Mantua had a very extensive catalogue of parts that you could order from them, don’t know if Model Power will do that too or not??

p.s. that sounds like the Tyco set that started me into model railroading 35 years ago - Xmas 1971. Does it have a red ATSF boxcar with the “El Capitan” slogan and a silver Virginian hopper car??[C):-)]

Seems like you already have several answers to the parts source question.

The headlight on the die cast steamers was a simple bulb mounted behind the headlight opening, the hole for it is in the bottom of the boiler casting. The threaded portion of the bulb was one leg of the power, grounded to the metal of the boiler. The other side was a thin wire that ran back to the motor ad was soldered on to the same brass lug as the wire that connects to the tender. Make sure you don’t get too much of a glob of solder at this point, it can short against the inside of the boiler casting. Check to make sure the wire didn’t just pull off the bulb or motor end.
