Need Photoshop help for creating Backdrop

Hey guys, I need someone’s expertise with Photoshop to help me create a panorama picture for my backdrop.

I have Corel Photoshop software, but I can’t figure out how to stitch the photos together for a panarama. I took a series of photos with my camera on a tripod.

This is for my mountain tunnel backdrop. So I took some pics of the mountain range near my house.

The dimensions for my wall is: 150" x 20"

Once I get the panorama picture fixed up, then I am taking to the local graphics print shop to print a poster for me.

The photos can be downloaded here: pics

Thanks! I appreciate any help with this.

Michael

Michael, Corel isn’t PhotoShop…Adobe is. You should get this sorted out before you go too far or you may run into compatibly issues. There are several way to “stitch” photos together for background and a web search will give you good tutorials. Be advised you are going to produce huge files if your background is of any size and you keep it at a high quality. Good Luck, Mike

What I meant was I need someone’s help that has photoshop. Since I don’t have it. I was trying to do this with the Corel software and couldn’t figure it out.

Thanks,

Micahel

Using your larger files This is what photoshop comes up with. I think the moving clouds reduced it some but still good. I also did an autofix on the final to darken it some. The file is 8.5 meg and can be downloaded from the photobucket site. This isn’t the final result. The printer would have to re-size the image to your 150x20 and resample at 300 dpi. The resultant image would be 750 meg in size. Also the grass still might be a bit large when blown up.

That looks fantastic! How much to print that sucker though?

Thanks Blue!!, I can’t believe how good that turned out! I can’t thank you enough for helping me out!!!

I just sent the file to the Aphagraphics place near me, I’ll see what they say for a quote.

I think I will probably go for a color poster print with a matte finish.

I’ll let you know what they say.

Thanks!

Michael

Personally I would wait for a day when the atmosphere is a little more clear and get sharper pics. Yours look good but using a tripod, and a uv filter with the timer mode you’ll improve the pics a good bit more.

By the way here’s my Y6b merged with your panorama as it stands now. I didn’t take the time to get the trees right. If you notice the blurriness on the panorama. It’s probably due to a little shaking.

They’re usually about 6 bucks a square foot, it also depends on the material you want.

Wow! I think that looks perfect to me. It is a background, and doesn’t have to be perfectly clear.

You are a photoshop master! I’ll probably go take some more pics, because now I need a cornfield background. I’ll keep you posted.

Thanks again,

Michael

When trying to get the cornfield background or any other foreground portion keep this in mind. Someone noted this before I went to print and I didn’t realize what they were saying until it was on the wall.

The first pic was with 12 inches of water under the city. It looked great as a picture but as a backdrop it was way too much. Note the GP40 in front of it. Looks like it should be a submarine.

Here’s a few pics after shortening the water. Now it looks more like the tracks run in front of the waterway.

No problem,

It’s your call but with just a little more patience you can have it noticeably better.

PM sent back at you…

I have a water and port oriented layout with a similar background situation. I have located the horizon line one inch above the general level of the track and ground. My water level is one inch BELOW to track level on the long causeway. (N scale 1"= 13.3 feet) (Prototype causeway height was 17 above mean sea level.)

Most of the perimeter of the layout is dockside, with water NOT modeled, but the edge of the layout as dock level. I “raised sea level” so it was only a half inch below grade for the shrimpboat harbor, so you would be able to see the little shrimpboat fleet. It is in an area around the corner from the causdeay where you cannot see that the water level is different. Shrimpboat harbor is only roughed in so far.

Ghoti Seafood Co. and the blue metal shed to the right are printed out and pasted up, as are the tanks and the shrimpboats to the back.

I don’t know about printing large backgrounds. I only painted this one, in sections. Many of the buildings, etc, will be printed and cut out and pasted.
