Need RoCo NYC 1102 ID?

Hi All !
I just got this train and I’m trying to find out more about it, I’ve looked in a few places, I have old catalogues! It’s unusual for RoCo to do a USA train, they usually do European rails. First of all, it does say RoCo on the bottom. It has 1102 road number and is marked New York Central, HO gauge. I’de like to find out how old it is, is it an Alco?
Many thanks, Ted

The prototype is an Alco FA-2. Not realy sure what FA the model is supposed to represent

I believe it was Atlas, many years ago, that imported Roco locomotives and sold them under the Atlas name, but the models were marked on the bottom as being a Roco product. This may be one of those engines.

This is a Model Power Import, made by Roco. The model is a combination of the FA-1 and FA-2 and is correct for neither. Also it uses the Shark chassis and that is not correct for the Alco FA series. The gears are the same as the Atlas Yellow Box GP38, GP40, SD35, SD24 and FP7 models and are interchangeable in case of broken gears.

The Trucks are also the same as the AHM C424 model, also a Roco model.

Just a bit of info on Roco.

Before developing an own brand name, Roco was a type of OEM manufacturer for different brands in the US and Europe. In the late 1970´s, the started to market trains under their own brand and have developed into the leading manufacturer of European HO trains since. They now also own the traditional brand of Fleischmann.

I am surprised that their presence on the US market is so small.
