Need some help repairing a Kato Japanese Steam Engine

Hi everyone,

My friend picked up an HO scale Kato Japanese steam engine while visiting Japan. It runs great. However, the side rod came out being held with some type of push pin and he’s not capable of fixing it.

Does anyone know of a reputable US company or dealer that might be able to fix it? He spoke to Kato USA and told him to send it back to Japan. If he would do that, it would cost more than what he paid for.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
