need some help with a train

me and my friend are trying to make a really neat model train set, could you give us any ideas please or pictures of good ones? oh, btw it can’t cost too much

You didn’t provide enough information for people to know what you want to do. By “train set” do you mean an entire layout or just a train? What type of set – freight, passenger, steam, diesel, U.S., European, Russian, Chinese? What scale? Many train sets are already available from Bachmann and other manufacturers.

ok, sorry, its HO scale, we have the train, we are trying to make the layout, i’m not sure what kind of train it is but that dosent matter, i just wanted some cool idea on layouts

Think Small

Model Railroader recently sent be a booklet called “8 Layouts for Small Spaces” or something like that – I don’t have it handy at the moment to get the exact title. It was sent as a freebie when I renewed my subscription. Check around and see if you can find someone locally who has a copy they’ll give to you, or check your local hobby shops to see if they have one available.

Also go to your local public library and ask if they have any books or magazines on model railroading. Most libraries will even make copies of articles for you if you find something suitable.

go to www.atlasrr.com and they have some good examples of some ho scale model railroad track plans…Chuck

Here’s what I did when I first began with model railroading …

Put the track together that came with my first set (Lionel 0-27 gauge) then let the train run and run and run. Pretty soon my imagination kicked in and before I knew it, more track was added - then a couple of turnouts (switch tracks) - it grew right before my eyes.

This same idea can easily be applied to your HO trains - I’m into HO and I’ll show you some of what I accomplished WITH NO TRACK PLANS FROM ANY SOURCE - not that they aren’t worth having - but at your entry level, let your imagination come first!

See ya and good luck![tup][;)]

Wow, very impressive layout. Nice job!

Model Railroader publishes a special magazine every year with some nice track plans. I think the one out right now has ten plans.
