[:D]Hi to everybody, I am new to trains.com and need some info. I have a friend who has several Mantua train pieces. He gave me one to check on, which he is looking to sell. Actually, he is looking to sell all of them. The one I have here is a Mantua in an orange and yellow box. It is model #311-01, Pacific & Tender Santa Fe. The engine appears to be cast metal, it is very heavy. The tender is a metal base with a plastic body. The engine has the number 4073 & Santa Fe on both sides. It has a working head lamp and is HO scale. If anyone can send me a location on the web that would have definitive information or someone who has information on these trains, please email me at hannath@woodducksys.com. I have spent the last hour searching and haven’t been able to find enough info to answer my questions. Thank you, Sheri

The Mantua Pacifics seem to be currently selling in the range of $30 to $60 on eBay.

I’d also suggest looking on eBay. A quick search should give you a number of similar items, and you can judge your price from that.
It costs nothing extra to search or buy from eBay, in case you’re not familiar with it. There is a fee for the seller. “The World-Wide Yard Sale” is a great place for used model railroad stuff of all kinds."
Sheri,
I guess timing is everything here, I own several of these and just put one up on ebay Saturday for sale, and have bought quite a few of these and reapired them and resold. If you have one thats in good shape, with know broken cow catcher or missing parts they bring about $35 to $45, with an original box add another $10 to the price. It all depands on the person selling and who will pay the amount you want.
Mantua’s Pacifics are good heavy engines that run “ok” they lack allot of details and seem a bit big for scale, but can be remotored and made into great runners.
Mantua went out of business a few years back, but there old casting dies were bought by Model Power and have been rereleased as Mantua Classics. I have not bought one of these but am told they are just as good as the older models.
As far as selling this loco, I sold 2 last winter and got$38 for one and $41 for the other, they both run and came in the original boxes.
