Need Suggestions and An Update

Ok so i have the last section of track to lay but i have no purpose for the track i want to put a building there or have a plant or something but i have no idea of what to put there so i figure id let you guys/gals give me some where to go with this part. its right next to whats gonna be a two lane one way road and i have a good size yard (good size to me, i know you guys with the 40 x 30 yards hahaha) next to it. Any Suggestions would be great if you have pics of your suggestions even better.

The area to be done has the two hoppers in it to show the size of the area, the rail to the left is not mounted to allow for movement and position, the signals next to the other track arent mounted either. Hope I didnt confuse anyone.

Need A Building

Also for those who are keeping track or who are just curious ive posted more pics of my layout and how its coming along so if you wanna see feel free to check them out.

One Final thing, on the way home one day i was coming over the bridge that crosses the local yard and saw something i thought i wounldnt see in Asheville, NC. A concist which has 2 UP’s locos, 1 NS Loco, 1 Conrail loco and a CN loco. Sort of blew my mind seeing the CN in Asheville, so i took a pic of it also just for fun.

Thanks to all who respond and ill write back when i can

Enjoy

Nick

maybe a tower, or a maitenence crew shed with a track speeder and pick up and some tools? or yard office?

It could be a RIP (repair in place) track. Maybe a scrap metal yard. Or install some conveyors and make a gravel loading facility.

If it was on my 13x4 dogbone, I’d combine the RIP track and the MOW shed. On a bigger layout I’d go with the RIP track, since it’s so close to the yard.

A diesel service facility would fit in nicely.

I would put in a large flat unloading dock, make it a team track and call it good. Then you could, in theroy, park just about anything there and be used for anything. MOW, operations, RIP track.

There is a large dock by the local UP line and I have seen everything parked along there at one time or another. From engines, to flats, boxcars. Plus buying, or scratch building a team track unloading dock could be cheap and easy until you find the perfect structure.

Either way, good luck [:D]

ok thanks guys will have to look into some of these ideas
