Neil Besougloff's Layout In CTT March

I really enjoyed the article and the drawing, I hope you don’t mind if I use this as my next layout, with very few changes.

Sometimes we all get caught up in buying, trading, and trying to have the perfect layout that we lose sight of what we really like. For me it running the trains. Sometimes now I will just get a couple running with TMCC, and listen to them while I do paperwork, or surf the net.

I dont want a big train yard , or a lot of sidings, just pure train running, and a lot of scenery of course.

Thanks Neil…Tim

I agree. What I really liked about Neil’s layout is that he designed it so that the trains run and the operator can just sit back and watch. Like Neil, I do not enjoy switching freight cars much, and do enjoy watching passenger trains race through the scenery. His layout really appeals to me and if I had the room, I’d be building a layout just like it right now.

Apart from the possibilities one wants to have on his layout, I think it’s fun to see what the editors of our magazine are doing at home. May be they could run a special on it?

Daan, this is a great idea. I used to love to see the work of the MR editors.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the feedback.

In time there will be some more stories about the layout. Right now trains are running, all the track is down and 90 percent wired, but there is no scenery yet, although I have temporary placed several of the key buildings.

My short-term goals are to finish the wiring (accessory wiring, too), finish the backdrop, install a fascia along the front edges of the layout, and then start on scenery.

Sincerely,
Neil Besougloff
editor

Actually I’d agree that this is an interesting article. I follow how to build layout articles very closely. I try things I see and decide if they work for me.
