No one really gets it anyway…
well for one this is an un-called for topic, and the other just worry about what you think not others. life is much better that way.
Since this is a ‘General Discussion’ board, and I am responding in part to other posts on this board, I certainly don’t feel my post is "uncalled for’.
As for the rest of your statement, you are certainly entitled to your opinion and I’m not entirely in disagreement.
I’m happy!
I’ve met some great people through this forum & others that all have the same hobby as I do.
Model Railroading.
Gordon
well im glad you got rid of this topic.
Settle down yo it’s all groovy, we all have our own oppinions and while it is good that you voiced yours there is such thing as overstating your oppinion.
Remember We’re all colleagues here, sharing in a common intrest.
Well, I’m not particularly glad that I got rid of this topic, because I do feel that negativity is a problem on both this and other bulletin boards. But my futile attempt to raise awareness of a problem did nothing more than confirm that the problem did indeed exist.
So screw it.
I hate Con-Cor, BNSF, and the April Issue of Model Railroader.
Oh thats just GREAT- leave the rest of us hanging! See how you are? Off of the forum for 15 hrs and controversy erupts, seethes and passes and I have no clue as to what it was about.
Sigh.
I basically just said that I really didn’t understand the negativity expressed on this and other bulletin boards.
I got blown out of the water for bringing it up, so I eliminated the post. Nothing terribly exciting.
I guess it’s OK to be negative as long as you aren’t being negative about negativity.
damn thats so true
well you folks nearly kissed off
all my effort to find new and cool things
I get scolded if a word is not spelled 100% correctly
who wants to post and get looked over with a fine tooth comb
what happend to the minds help the minds
is this the place for negitivity acting thinking saying
things can be mentioned without the flip comments
some people seem more interestes in geting personl info to use it at steal passwords and try to crack online accounts than to share in some of the pitfalls to save othe modelers from doing the same mastakes
but one a flip side the lacy petterson case fourm is brutal
its so much steammer in here

See, I get so much negativity in my job that the stuff here just blows by. I know what you are talking about, I’ve seen it in replies, but it seems that it is usually long after someone has given good advice to the original question. The longer the response, the more criticism creeps in.
But still, you guys are a breath of fresh air, my post about Walthers high prices drew some flak, but it made me realize that I need to take another look at their lines.
The spelling problems mean nothing as long as the original thought comes thru.
As for the rest, I’m still pretty new here, and I hav’nt seen the dark side of the forum.
When I have people screaming that they are going to kill me and my family and everybody I know here at work, I can escape into this forum and talk with intelligent and helpful people about a subject that is important, at least to me.
Hang in there Roadtrp. These are, for the most part, good folks.
I must have missed something. I was fishing most of the day yesterday. I’m sooooo confused. Just remember, opinions are like *@!holes. Everyone has one and they all stink, except mine.[:D][:D][V]. Seriously though everyone here has something to give even if you just started. It’s all in the way it is given.
Jeremy
hey Roadtrp-
I don’t know the gist of your original post, but if certain jackasses have nothing better to do than bring negativity to a Forum like this, most of us would probably wi***hat they’d start collecting “Betsy Wetsy” dolls, or sea shells, or gag on their own farts, instead. Almost every Forum member that actively participates on this Forum shares their unique skills, knowledge, and experiences with the rest of us. This is supposed to be fun, informative, a place to establish comradery amongst people with similar interests, and a place to seek help with a thorny problem. It is the closest some modelers get to what some more fortunate members take for granted - sort of a a cyber space LHS.
I have been critical of some members who have used incredibly rank language that I wouldn’t want my family to read, even though it’s all over the boob tube. I have blasted a member or two who I felt were being cruel to a Forum member just because he made some typos. Those people may not be jerks, but they were conducting themselves like jerks.
Hey guys, a lot of non model railroaders think we are a bunch of nerds with pocket protectors, engineer hats and big wooden whistles. Stop acting out that image ! It doesn’t look good on you.
I’m sure some people think my posts are too lengthy at times, or I use too many quotation marks, brackets, complicated sentence structure, or who knows what. If it really bothers them they can ignore it, send me a consructive email (i’ll only be devistated for a little while, but it’ll be in private), or blast me on the public forum, in plain view for everyone to witness just how anal, cruel, and possibly just plain stupid some people can be.
I bet that there’s someone out there that gets incredibly irriatated when I use three periods like this. . . Here’s some more just for you …& one more.
Do ampersands (&) bother some of you? How about brackets like thes
Bill,
Interesting post.
My initial post wasn’t written in reaction to any specific post here, or even to this board in general. I thought my post made it clear that I was speaking about the negativity I saw overall in our society right now, and posts here occasionally reflected that. I did not mean it to be a criticism of any particular post or member of this forum.
I thought my post might stimulate an interesting discussion on why everybody seems to look at the glass as half empty these days instead of half full. Apparently I was wrong. My intent must not have been clear enough, and it was taken as a criticism of this board. Oh well, live and learn. I guess it is better to just talk about trains.
roadtrp, yeah it is better to talk just about trains in a MR forun huh? i just shot this down because it would of started something way way more worse than this. but i do respect your opinions, and what you were trying to do, but you got to understand what i did.
All you need is love lol.
Seriously though, there is way too much in the way of bad vibes on some of these threads. I mean come on who really cares what roadname is the best? (ahem up9899) and who really cares if someone bashes our favorite product line (I think most of us are guilty there)
But let me tell you, I do this hobby to relax, I got a stressful life as I am sure most of the other members do, and modeling helps me to relax after a long day. The last thing I need is to get my blood pressure raised by someone being a bugger in the forums. So come on guys, it’s just a hobby, if I wanted confrontation I’d go back to working in politics.
On a more positive note, I do feel that we do all have things in comon here. I have learned things here that have made my pike much better quality that even I had originally hoped for! I also quite enjoy when I can give some of my insight to others.
So brothers and sisters, let us put aside our differences, regardless of the flag we hail, be it Armour Yellow, Grange Gold, Tuscan or Mercury Red. You are here because you love trains, so am I, and so is everyone else.

Perhaps I did miss something on the front end, because the orig post was edited out. My comments still stand because they reflect exactly how I perceive all this bickering and silly stuff that ever so often just seems to erupt on this Forum.
If the powers to be want me to edit out my lengthy post they should email me offline.

I
Hey Roadrp,
Bill Matthewson worded it so well!
Regarding negativity? As I stated on a similar topic you have to consider that a lot of the guys that respond to posts may be: tired, irritable, going through a divorce, stressed out at work, problems with wife/girlfriend, in deep debt, etc.
If you read carefully, you can sometimes see emotions seeping through responses. If someone responds to you negatively, let it slide. I have to compliment the guy (Big Boy?) who’s topic on graffitti “frazzles up” my emotions. I’ve responded to his posts a little “stirred” sometimes, though I didn’t disrespect him. Didn’t bother him one bit! He is thick skinned and still responds positively to my posts.
Let the junk “slide” by and enjoy this Forum. You’re o.k in my book!
Take care and keep posting! [:)][:D][swg][tup][4:-)]
HEY!! Let’s get back to what we love TRAINS!!![:)][yeah]
BNSF ALL THE WAY!!!
