New Additions to my Alco Fleet

My Reading C424s finally came back from the paint shop. As much as I’d like to say I painted them, my buddy painted them for me:

And before you all comment, yes Reading only applied the Bee Line logo to it’s 6 axles. But, I think it looks sharp, so I used it.

Nick

Gotta love them Alco’s baby. And like we always say around here. It’s your railroad, do what you wanna do. Kinda like my SP black widow Alco FA’s. SP never had any. Who cares, I love my Alcos. Looking good.[^]

Your buddy does very nice paint work. As a custom painter, myself, it’s a

pleasure to see another’s craftsmanship. Great models.

Looks good. Does this guy take outside work?

You put that comment in there because you knew I’d say something, didn’t you? (hmm, where are the smileys? need the big cheeseball grin here)

Great looking paint job, just needs some serious “Alco weathering” i.e. soot. At least some of us have “preserved” the great Alco name for posterity!!

ALCos with soot:

and

Im sorry, but I simply dont like Alco, what so ever in any way shape or form.

Nice work on the models, but I dont like them. IE, nice weathering and im sure you are very proud, but I dont like the " ALCO " look.

Randy,

This cheeseball grin - [:D] I knew someone would have. [:P]

Currently he does not accept outside work. But myself and several other local modelers are encouraging him to do so.

Nick

Yeah i agree, especially on the DL-109, man that thing is hideous. Why did they even waste plastic on that nasty thing. Anyway nice paint work, they look great!

If you don’t like ALCO’s why look at the thread in the first place. He’s proud of his ALCO’s and I like ALCO’s. Leave us reprobates to ourselves.

That’s funny. I love the 109. In fact, as a kid I liked the road switchers best. My brother had an EMD cab unit (since he was given passenger stuff, I was given freight) and I never cared for them. Now that I’m getting back into this the first thing I picked up was 4 DL-109s, an FA/B set and a PA. I’m modeling the New Haven in '48 and at this time almost all of their diesels were Alco. I don’t know what it is, but I really like the way the Alcos look. Next up is a few of the RS-1s and 2s. Randy

DL109s, eh? In my view, the most individual-looking and attractive US diesels built. But then, they were built by a proper locomotive builder, and styled by an industrial designer with railroad experience - not a car and bus maker. (insert evil grin here) Cheers, Mark.

I prefer the switchers myself.

Nice looking ALCo’s Nick!!!

Nothing wrong with the livery. I saw in MR years ago a C44-9w in Bee Line paint

I only have 6 in my fleet of 62 & I love PA’s!

I’m hoping to obtain more D&H ones as well as some AT&SF ones before they are gone.[sigh]
