It’s another auction site, smaller by far than ebay {so far}, and it seems all auctions start at $1.00 and must go up by increments of at least $1.00. {Obviously if someone really wants a loco, they will bid higher for it}.
When you get to opening page, scroll down to find the trains bookmark on the left side to get into the train section as they apparently do RC and stuff too.
I’ve seen the site, browsed it a little, but I didn’t register to buy or sell anything. I didn’t see anything that just bowled me over. The prices were about the same as ebay. The interface a little clumsier to use. And who knows who the company is or the sellers are. I’m not saying there’s anything untoward, but ebay is at least the devil I know, and I’ve been buying there long enough to recognize a lot of the regular sellers.
That said though, I’d sure like to find a better (or at least another) place to buy and sell trains and other stuff. I hope they succeed.
I did a quick browse once, not a lot of items at the time. The S&H charges to Canada are very high so I would assume Canadian users will be few and far between.
If anyone is looking for Branchline heavyweight passenger car kits there are some deals there now. The reserve has been removed on them and I have purchased one as low as $4.00.
I did not realize that was anything more than a picture posted by the Trains.com site. The URL is pretty much hidden. I don’t care for the site format. Ebay is much easier to use but I will click on the site every so often so Trains.com gets something out of the site.
I agree with jwhitten, I have looked at it, but did not register. I have several sellers on e-bay that I have made purchases from and I just feel comfortable conducting business with them. I know they will ship fast and If I have a problem they will be there to help me out. But if you do use trains.com, let us know how your experience was.
