Still cooking here, added modules to my upper Milwaukee level so I can do some equipment moving to work on the Milwaukee yard and North Shore.
Now just arrived/working on.
2 unit Norfolk and Western Jackashaft elecvtric under the newly installed test wire, I have made about 100 poles from welding rod, the ends are threaded and “screwed” into drilled holes into the track board, holes drilled in the poles for the wire.
The JackShaft was built by Aubrey Wiley, he put it up for sale and I bought it, its totally scratchbuilt, using a mantua steam drive system for the "jackshaft, one set of drivers is powered, the other is free-wheeling, but I will change that, put NWSL tower gears in and can motors and power all the drives. It is not brass it is plastic! I made a video but I’ll post it later of it. I wanted to record it running before I modded it. The mantua drives are old, taking too much running power to move, so a power upgrade is in order.
N&W 4-8-0 1154, the marker lights work! This is a PSC model, came just today thru ebay,
ok, so one 4-8-0 isnt enough, heres another, 1157, this has a smaller tender.
Having been involved with the Lost Engines of Roanoke this was a must, plus it makes sense, as the N&W did not get 0-8-0’s unitil late they kept many of these engines to do switching duties and branchline runs.
I have a couple of 0-8-0’s but they are for a different part of the layout not N&W (Belt Railway of Chicago)
no DCC on these engines, that will add later, and another reason to repower the jackshafts.
back atcha again later
