Fergie - That is a fine looking locomotive. And a great looking layout from what I can see. OT: The coldest water I ever dove in was in Halifax in January. Why do we do these things to ourselves! LOL But it was a great dive and a favorite in my dive log. Terry
Ah, Fergie. When will this aquazition craze ever end? NEVER!!! That is a fine looking throughbred if I ever saw one. Congratulations. [:D][wow][bow][sigh]
Nice lookin’ loco, Fergie. It’s difficult to tell from the photo, but is this the brass model from the '80s(?), or the recent offering from Broadway? Or is it a very well-done kitbash of something else? In any case, very nice, and in a picturesque setting, too.
I wasn’t too sure about the date either. I painted one for a friend in the mid-seventies, as I recall. It was a beautiful loco, but had some cosmetic damage when I received it. I was pretty full of myself after I’d repaired the damage, until I tried to run it. What a dog! I ended up completely stripping down the side rods and valve gear, then rebuilding it, without the factory installed binds. I remember that when the Broadway version of this loco showed up in the LHS, there was suddenly a glut of the older brass versions on the dealer’s shelves, with corresponding sales of the newer version, so I suspect many of them suffered from the same problems as that of my friend’s. Your loco may be a more recent model, as many of the later brass models offered much improved performance. Again, very nice work.
Sorry Noah you’ll have to wait for the release of the Rapido smooth sided passenger cars. I have two on order in CNR green and gold livery. I hauled five AHC CN Pullman’s yesterday but it was disapointing.
Ken: I called soundtraxx and the problem might have been the fact I didn’t have it hooked up fully to the motor and this could have caused confusion in the system sue to not enough back emf. I’ll have to wait until I get back from the Arctic to find out.
