I have MRC prodogy advance. I am wireing a plug on the layout. When I first did it it worked fine. But then it started messing up. Still gets info onto the control readout but won’t send commands. When I plug into base unit directly all is well. Someone told me a couple of years ago that stranded wire is not good with DCC they only use solid wire. Is this true and could this be my problem?
I know nothing about the Prodigy, but for the wire. No, stranded wire is fine. I would say better. That is unless you have some sort of connectors that require a solid wire, but even then that has nothing to do with DCC. Some of the new quick bite connectors will cut through stranded wire instead of clamping down on it.
What gauge wire are you using. My system recommends 18 for connection between components. Check your manual to see what they recommend. If the wire is the correct gauge, double check your connections. You could have a loose connection or put a wire on the wrong terminal. Been there, done that.
The above two posts are true, but it sounds to me like you are talking about a remote plug in panel for the handheld? If thats the case push all of the clips on the cables together, make sure nothing came loose, if that doesnt work you may have a broken wire somewhere in the cable.
