New Athearn/Round House 2-6-0

Athearn has announced a new Round House 2-6-0 with one of the road names being B&M. I’ve been contemplating back dating my HO B&M layout so that I can run steam locos, I think this may be the first I pick up. My layout is small and only has 22" radius curves so I don’t want anything huge. It’s due out 4/07.

Unfortunatly, I think it’s just going to be an upgrade of the standard MDC old-time 2-6-0 with a B&M paint job. It won’t resemble a real B&M mogul:

This is what the Athearn will probably look like (different drivers, cab, tender, headlight position, stack, domes, etc.):

Cannoli,

I saw that too, but from I hear the new 2-6-0 that roundhouse is building won’t look anything like the B-15 2-6-0’s that the B&M ran. Did you know that those B-15’s were made right there in Manchester, NH in the Mills.

If you want a True B-15, 2-6-0, You’ll need to get your hands on a Brass PFM B-15.

There is a short side bar in the Jan 1996 Model Railroader as to what would be needed to make an IHC 2-6-0 Into a B&M 2-6-0.

Hope you all find this useful.

James

Thanks for the info James, I’ll dig out my Jan '96 MR and start there.
