Well, another month is here. Year is passing fast. Good to see old members and new members posting. Had to add GRITS to give it a Southern overtone. [;)] Did put in oatmeal for the Yanks. [:D]
Great group here. God bless all.

Mornin’ all! Figured I’d jump in the new Pot instead of trying to catch up with the old one. Gotta go to work - looks like a cool day with showers - much better than that 95+ weather we were having just recently. Later!
Sunny and 67.
Well at least we got some oatmeal. I am on my way out to do some errands. Got the grass cut yesterday before the rain and had a nice chat with some of the guys last night.
S.J.
Summer is my favorite time of year, however, I always feel kinda sad when the calendar turns to Aug. 1 as summer will be coming to an end very soon. It’s better now that I’m retired, when I was still teaching Aug. 1 meant inservice meetings were about to begin, YIKES!!!
Frank – thanks for brewing up a new pot.
Good Morning
We had a flashkaboomer come through late last night that stayed with us for a few hours dumping a lot of rain on our’n heads here…our raingauge shows all of 3" here…:o
Getting some more paperwork done for work today…finish the lot tomorrow and then off for a week…
Good thing about virtual foodstuffs…no weight gain or high blood sugar/cholesterol/whatever else one has issues with!!
Have a good one!!
Yesterday was all about running errands and now after having rain earlier in the week I have got to get out and cut the grass. Having family coming to visit this weekend to celebrate a birthday (not mine).
Joe, I did have a good time a Gettysburg. The neat thing was after each of the reenactments, unlike those who fought on that ground 150 years earlier, those of us who had fallen in the heat of battle were able to rise up to fight the next day! One of the things I enjoyed most about the trip was getting to see some of the beautiful Pennsylvania landscape. It is a beautiful state with so much history.
Chief wrote "BTW: lots of friends and relatives where at the 150th reenactment. On the “opposite side of the line” I’m sure. " Chief, I wouldn’t be so sure about that last phrase. This picture was taken late during the first week of the reenactments.
Considering that the average age of a soldier during the War for Southern Independence was probably 25 or 26, I think this old reenactor will probably hang up his rifle in a couple of years after the 150th Anniversary of the war has concluded. Hope everyone has a good day!
And Don, if it really was your Birthday yesterday, Happy Belated Birthday! Bo [:)]
Fri.85 Sat. 87 Sun.87 Those temps are for the valley, I saw on TV it has been below 80 in downtown Los Angeles for 10 days straight. I’ll take it, its usually roasting hot this time of year. What happened to so called global warming?
Happy Birthday Don [^] [G]
I always read the old Coffee Pots so if your one of the last posters your not posting in vain, your post still get read.
Morning all,
Bo, wish I could have been at the 150th anniversay at Gettysburg. I might have joined the reenactors some time ago if I had been younger. We were in Gettysburg once on the anniversary of the battle. Made you appreciate what it was like for the soldiers on both sides with the heavy wool uniforms and 90 degree heat. We were invited into the Southern encampment and allowed to shoulder a rifle and get the feel of it. Also saw some Reb mounted cavalry. The Yankee camp had a medical display showing the primative by todays standards ways of treating wounds. Lot of amputations and no prevention against infection. Miracle anyone survived it. Later that week we were treated to a concert by a Rebel military band at a local high school with period instruments. Lot of the horns were facing backwards so the troops could hear better when they were marching. Reb drummer was MIA so they captured a Yankee drummer and used him in the band. It was all tongue in cheek. I beleive the band was from North Carolina. My great grandfather was with the 26th N.C. Regiment at Gettysburg.
Cool again this morning with marine layer. I’ll take it!
Our son who lives with us left on a trip to Oregon this morning.
Had a nice lunch with widow lady friend of ours yesterday and took a look at the layout her husband had. All or most of the trains have been sold since his death but his grandaughter kept one which she is still running on the layout. Layout had three loops… One for O gauge, One for Standard Gauge and One for G gauge but all the trains except one O gauge are gone. Helped grandaughter clean the track and got her train running better. I mentioned on an earlier post that we found a short which almost started a fire but corrected it before it did.
D. Baker, watch out that the Chief doesn’t put you in a higher tax bracket with all those pictures of your “mansion”.
Afternoon All.
Really been draggin’ this week, feel a bit more energetic today. Looks as though we may be shorthanded tomorrow so I got a bunch of stuff packed and ready.
Things are progressing nicely on the surprise anniversary party for the “better-half”. Our daughter is coming out Monday while the “better-half” is out for the afternoon so we can draft and hopefully order the invitations. Should be in the mail by mid-August so everybody has adequate time to respond. It will be a miracle if “you know who” doesn’t find out.
John, Ray, & Joe,
Need to get the women and children off the streets, The Yankees are coming the Yankees are coming ! [(-D] A 3 game series starting Friday night. [tup]
blownout, When you first started talking about your bass this is the first thing that came to mind:
Alas, my thoughts were not correct. [:o)]
Lake House. [mow and entertain company]
The only good Yankee is the NY Yankees baseball team. [;)]
Doug W, got one of those singing bass at lake house in gold bath.
Behave all.
Saw that billy big mouth bass and it brought memories back we bought one at a yard sale for a $1 we brought it home put it on the floor and turned it on our cats would stand back just far enough to reach out and smack at it, it was hilarious
Going to keep this one short. I’m very tired from a day of celebrating Christina’s 2nd Birthday.
Brent – isn’t that the best tired ever? Perfect [tup]
I thought Don said last year he was through having birthdays until he retired…again. JACK
Hello all
Since my camera died I’ve been researching Cameras What do you camera guys think of the Nikon L820?
Seems like a lot of bang for the buck.
Off to bed
Prayers for those in need
Good Evening
We actually had sun today…a whole days worth!!
And, I finished all the ding dang file work that needed done…a few reports went into some HR files too…
We also ran some trains around here…just to bug the little Spring…
Banks: I think that is a good camera myself.
Doug: [(-D] Well, I did not want anyone floundering abouts here, nor to be too koi about it either. It does have different scales as well…[:-^]
Anyhow, have a good night!!
Good evening guys. Got some good news on the dog. He has a injured knee, but no hip displasia and if we can just keep his activity down, should not need surgery.
Don, hope you had a great birthday. Brent, did ya spring for that Vet to go with the tricycle? Hope you and the family had plenty of fun!
God bless,
Dennis
A wonderful entry level digital camera, I’m a big Nikon fan. Well worth your consideration.
Jon - absolutely!
Dennis - after researching how much they cost… no. [:(] I did mention it to TheQ and it did not receive a negative comment - which is scarey - she even mentioned it to her father, his response ‘How much are they?’ I haven’t informed him. But I did locate an awesome specimine in Kansas…
Good evening all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in low 80s. Watched a great soccer game tonight in Lucas Oil Stadium. Chelsea beat Inter Milan 2-0. Wow! I have watched this level of play on TV, but nothing beats being there. I saw moves and shots and passes and just general all-around agility and skill I could only dream about. It IS “the beautiful game”. Wow! Did I mention “Wow”? This weekend is Mid Ohio weekend. I am so going to hate going back to work on Tuesday. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
