Bachmann says it has a motor decoder with a Tsunami SoundTraxx sound decoder installed but I do not know which SoundTraxx sound decoder. Could it be maybe the TSU-750?
Well I have been inspired by the information here on this thread so I sent a message to this guy but it will just be my luck this one delivers it. ] ( I hope, I hope. [:-^] )
It’s basically a “simplified” Tsunami. I have one in my 2-10-0 and I’m very happy with it. A regular Tsumani has hundreds of CV options. The Spectrum version still has plenty of options and choices, but doesn’t support a few things like “Fireman Fred” talking and IIRC doesn’t have the reverb effects.
All the specs for the factory installed Tsunami are at the Bachmann site or the SoundTraxx site. You can download the document to your PC. Store the links in Favorites or Bookmarks.
I’d have to go to the Soundtraxx website to get the exact numbers, but the Spectrum Tsunami has all the chuffs, whistles and bells of the regular Tsunami…something like 12 chuff sounds, 20 whistle sounds, and at least several bell sounds. It also has Back EMF and in general is an excellent sound and motion decoder. The only thing it’s lacking is as I mentioned the reverb and maybe the EQ controls, and “Fireman Fred” (crew chatter, fireman shoveling coal, etc.). Like I say, I don’t know the exact numbers, but say an old Soundtraxx “LC” sound decoder maybe has three horn/whistles and bells, and maybe 6-7 other user settings like lighting, speed and momentum CVs, etc. The regular Tsunami has maybe 100 different user options and settings, whereas the “budget” one Spectrum uses has maybe 60. It still gives you a LOT of options to set the sound just the way you want.
I have a couple of the Bachmann 4-6-0’s with sound. You will not be disappointed as they are great runnning and sounding engines, at least in my opinion.
I also have a few BLI and I prefer the Bachmann sound over the BLI sound.
