New BLI E6 A/B (picture)

Christmas came again yesterday, but Santa was wearing a brown suit. Thought I would share my present with you. The “Queen of Southern” BLI E6

Nice pics the Southern sure took pride in their loco’s Looks like BLI has done them justice.

Very pretty! How about a close-up photo, please?

Very Nice. How’s the sound? What passenger consist are you going to run?
Early stuff or late model??

The E6 will be pulling the Walthers Southern Budd cars. I have 5 plus 2 undecorated right now. Wish I had a Crescent decal. Does anyone know who may have them? She will be making opposite runs with the BLI E7 L&N Hummingbird.

The sound is excellent as with most QSI equipped locos and with a lot of neat special effects, but unfortunately BLI uses the same horn for all the E6’s and 7’s.

Richard if you go to my web storage site (see link below), you can enlarge it there. It’s the last picture of page two

Very nice! I gotta ask you about the sound behavior of the units. I own BLI steam and there is a difference when you are pulling weight but do these desiels get quieter when they are not pulling as much … say on a downhill run?

Great Layout Rex. Thanks for posting the link, enjoyed the step by step look. The engineer looks like a happy guy ! Love the new engine.

I believe they call it “sound of power” and it works only if you have set the CV’s for the acceleration and deceleration. The engine sound level is determined by the throttle setting to loco speed ratio.

To give you an idea: if I have these set to give a realistice start and stop with a load, I can run my throttle to say 60 clicks while the engine is in idle. The sound will then immediately go to full power to get the engine started and then start leveling off as it approaches the set speed.

When approaching a stop, if I go to zero setting, the sound will decrease all the way through the coasting of deceleration and have break squeal just before it stops. It’s really incredible!

Up a hill or down, the sound will either go up for the increase in power or down for the decrease.

Beautiful!!!

EGAD! I don’t even RUN diesels and I want one! Talk about handsome—

I need to examine this programming further it sounds like a very cool thing
