New BNSF SD70ACes

BNSF 9255 at Galesburg, IL on June 30. This SD70ACe hasn’t even been painted yet. It almost looks like one of NS’s grey ghost GEs. My guess is they are headed to Kansas City or whereabout to get painted.

Nice shot!

These are some neat looking giants. The one feature, however, that I miss from the EMD wide cabs are the teardrop style windshields. Seems that Canadian units still come equipped with them.

I’m sure using these GE style rectangular windshields are most likely a cost factor, but as far as styling the teardrop glass really adds to a locomotive’s overall appearance. But of course, railroad’s are more concerned with function than visual aesthetics [;)]

Yeh, the front cab windows don’t look as good as their SD70M/MAC predecessors, but the large flared radiators make the Tier 2 EMDs more stylish. At least EMD brought back the isolated cab they suddenly forgot about in the earliest SD70Ace/M-2 batches.
