Are 765 trips still scheduled from Scranton to Binghamton the weekend of August 15?
@James they cancelled the trip. Sorry for giving you the bad news.
Bring them to central Illinois!
I agree Landon Rowell bring some steam back to Illinois.
James, according to a comment by the FWRHS on their facebook page on a status they posted on the 12th, the Binghamton trip is being replaced by other trips that will be run out of steamtown. Those trips are still to be announced though.
765 is going to Delaware Water Gap now, instead of Binghamton but in early September. The train will turn on the NS wye in Portland, PA so that 765 can face forward for the return trip. Allentown dates were changed because the trips are actually boarding in Bethlehem and the original dates were on Musikfest opening weekend and Bethlehem is jam packed during Musikfest week with hotels booked and parking lots full and people roaming all over. Plus, the bands and food vendors. Only 765 not the entire train will be turned on the Lehigh Valley trips because the only working wye is at the former roundhouse site near Allentown Yard and the tail can only fit a few diesel locomotives. Probably 765, aux and tool car could fit. Pittston has a wye on the RBMN RR where the train or 765 will be turned for the trip back south with a 2 1/2 hour stop at Jim Thorpe. That means they will have to take the RBMN track all the way to Thorpe because the NS track has no connection with the new connection over the ex-CNJ bridge at Glen Onoko, only a connection at Packerton which would require a reverse move to reach the CNJ Jim Thorpe station if heading south.
