Good Morning from Blueberryhill…

Good Morning, Joe…

It is a cloudy 34 degrees. Going up to 42 today with partly cloudy skies.

Today is an easy day. Relax and run trains for a few hours. Football this afternoon. I recorded the episode of Alaska Railroad last night. That is a good series.

Breakfast as usual on the dining car.

Y’all have a great Sunday.

Chuck

Morning all. Got home and was tired so didn’t sign on. All does so no shooting. Kids coming for their Thanksgiving meal today. Hope all have a great December.

Sunny and warmer.

RT…The Chief has been derelict in his duties several times this year. I believe at a minimum a hearing should be held as to his suitability in making a pot of coffee. You have done outstanding work and seem to be able to read a calendar better than the Chief. [4:-)] Good job!!

It is December, and the trains will be running under trees all over the country this month. [tup]

I’ll pass it on to YOU!!! [:P]

BTW: Jon, NC just enacted a law preventing demonstrators at and along funeral lines for fallen soldiers. [tup]

Santa Anna winds make it warm today and tomorrow 79 then cold the rest of the week as cold as 59.

If you enjoy reading about people jumping on the bandwagon Model Railroader has a thread titled “Why do so Many Trash MTH” 27 replies.

The biggest complaints are they like their NMRA standardized DCC and don’t want DCS and I don’t blame them. Also no parts available. And their is a bit of snobbishness because their a toy train manufacturer…

Good Morning,

Happy December All!!

Looking forward to the month, always joyous. But this year so grateful to be around, and have all my limbs! (Hope Mrs Banks wrist isn’t as bad as it appears, maybe just a sprain.)

Going to put up outside decorations today, then help with getting the house started. Beautiful day here today, sun shinning, warm, no wind, just very pleasant. (Sure beats sitting in a cold and wet deer stand.)

Yesterday, I thought I would check out a couple of kits I had bought for the layout. (A&W Root Beer Stand, and White Castle stand.) Well, these kits contain pieces that you have to cut from raw stock. Even too some small strips about 14" long, that you need to cut “as required” which are used for structural integrity. And of course the instructions aren’t all that great. Now I understand why the kit sells for $49 and the assembled unit is $250. So that is going to take some time and patience! Will definitely take my modelling skills up a notch, or they will never get to the layout.

BTW: Jon, NC just enacted a law preventing demonstrators at and along funeral lines for fallen soldiers.

IMO SHOULD BE A FEDERAL LAW !

Hope everyone has a great day, and stay healthy!

Frank – that’s awesome news, good work NC lawmakers ! I’ll never understand the mind set of the Westboro cult, they are the lowest of the low.

Chief, too bad North Carolina had to go to the trouble of passing a law which is just common sense to decent people. Guess those types just don’t fall into that category. Anyway, glad to see somebody took a stand on it.[bow]

All quiet here on the Western front today. Just going to church in a little while. Nice weather predicted for the day. May take a walk later and then run some trains.

Finished off the last of the turkey leftovers last night. Next door neighbor got Christmas lights up yesterday. Makes us all look bad.

later,

Ray

Well done North Carolina! I’ve got a better idea. Why not pass a law mandating a maximum fine of $1 and five minutes of community service for assault and battery on a funeral protestor?

As my Irish grandfather used to say, “There are times when assault and battery is fully justified!”

Falls off roof and breaks right leg and arm. [^o)]

Wifey did 90% of ours while I was deer hunting. [8D] That’s her thing. In fact, she decorates outside and inside for all seasons and holidays.

Great meal today with kids. Baked honey roast spiral cut ham, squash casserole, broccoli casserole, baked sweet potatoes, chutney, chocolate pie and cherry pie. [dinner] [:D]

Later

Good evening all,

Got the tree decorated today. Went to see “Delivery Man”. Very good movie. Also got out old bottle brush tree that was my grandmother’s and set it up in attic. Had been stored 10+ years, but still looks pretty good. Will hang a few lights on it and set up a timer to go with outside lights. Figure I might as well use it. Will be a busy day at work tomorrow. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Nice warm weekend here. Sunny and in the low 50’s. This won’t last much longer. Gald I got the maple leaves turned under in the veggie patch and tomato patch today.

Hope everybody had a good Thanksgiving. Ours was quiet, with just my wife and I. About midnight, we heard a “whump” sound, then a roar like a 747 on takeoff, which went on for several minutes. We finally got curious and stepped outside to see a flickering orange glow in the sky off in the north. There was nothing on the local newspaper or radio web sites, and the Kansas City TV stations did not have any special reports, so we got in the car and drove to the north of town to see what was up. Got a glimpse of a tower of flame what looked to be a couple of miles north of town, so we guessed there had been a gas line explosion and went home. News report the next morning was that a 30" gas pipeline had “a release” about 15 miles away from our house, some 10 miles north of town. 30’ by 80’ crater 7 feet deep and flames going 300’ into the air at times. Fortunately, nobody was hurt.

It is interesting to note that the gas pipeline company described the event as “a release”, the emergency responders called it “a pipeline burst”, and the folks living several hundres yards away called it “an explosion”. Guess that the details vary with your view point.

My wife and I put the Christmas tree up and decorated one of the rooms at the KATY museum over the weekend.

I am having trouble logging on to the forum on one of our computers. We recently ‘upgraded’ it to Explorer 11. Have not been able to log on since we did that. Probably some sort of security setting somewhere. I’ll have to dig around and see what I can find. If anybody else has bumped into this and fixed it, I would gladly accept some guideance.

Been sluffing off on my SS con

Good night all. Reclinerized.

8N, is that Katy TX? If so, nice museum. Been there. Worked the Bass Pro Shop up the street.

Sleep tight.

It might have achieved the forcast 78 today if you stood in the sun in the early afternoon.
Pick Your Part has a 1/2 price sale every month, if there is a holiday its that weekend. I went yesterday and got that top of the rear seat I wanted for my 87 Prelude. Probably my last chance as there getting rare now. The seat folds down for long items in the trunk and there is a seperate piece that is the top of the seat, mine and most are sun damaged this one is like new.
These cars are going to scrap so destroying things to get the part you want is no problem, I pried up the plastic panels near the seat top and found two bolts that held it on. I did bend it a little trying to figure out how to get it off but I’m sure I can straighten it. I once clamped a pair of vicegrips on a Fiero side window and gave it a good yank breaking it to smitterens to get to the bolts that held the side mirror on.
I also got Idle Air Valve if this dosen’t fix my Preludes idle I will take it to my mechanic. I stuck this in my pants, I have no problem at all stealing from Pick Your Part as I have shopped there for years and have many many stories of getting ripped off, their prices can be absurd and maybe you went to a lot of trouble to get something so you pay even at half price day.
I also have spent a lot of money because its half price day and maybe I can use something in the future so I get it and never use it.
I could have got a wheel for my Prelude with a good tire but aluminum wheels are kind of expensive even on half price day and my car came with a space saver spare and I again my never use it so I decided not too.
I aked the guy as you pay to enter is this a good place to look for women?

Pick Your Part is a very tiring place, I’m glad I only go once in a while now.

Konbanwa,

We finished decorating last night around 10 PM last night, but that included setting up the train and Christmas village under the tree so I was quite happy. I’m running Lionel’s Nutcracker Route set but I’m using a loop of RMT’s Super Snap track I picked up a few months ago. The trains run much quieter on it than the FasTrack I used to use. I’m waiting for some more RMT track to arrive so I can expand the loop a little and also replace the FasTrack that is on the UTB RR. Today was a typical Monday; however, I did not go for a run this morning as I was pretty exhausted from the party on Saturday and the decorating yesterday. We had flag football practice tonight and it went well. I grilled (yes, I grill during winter) hamburgers for dinner tonight. I topped mine with bacon and sautéed mushrooms and onions.

Sayonara,

Joe

Mornin’ boys. rt —> [(-D] For a moment I got the image of a 12-pointer driving a Jeep Wrangler with Chief hogtied on the hood… Clear and 39 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. More work on the North Pole layout before work this evening.

Took Wifey and Grandson to YORK yesterday for the big toy show. This year’s edition left something to be desired. Walked over to the Train show (separate entity, separate admission) and found all kinds of Fifey kinda stuff. Picked up 2 Dept 56 buildings for North Pole, and a newly reconditioned LW to power same. I just love the retro look and feel of this transformer. Funny, it seems with every tech geegaw that comes around, I keep going backwards in my 3rail endeavors…

We then visited Glen Rock train display, and as we were leaving, here comes NCRR #17. We saw Santa hop on board, and we chased this little General back to Shrewsbury. The boy loved it.

SCOTUS will shoot down NC (and any other similar legislation) in the immediate future… [sigh]

Banks - Tell Mrs Banks good luck with the wrist. Collie fracture?

Good Morning from Blueberryhill…

Good Morning , Joe…

It is a cloudy 38 degrees. Going up to 50 today.

Today is a busy day. I have an early errand to run and the usual chores. Some phone calls to make. Lunch and a nap, later.

Dining car has Cheerios for breakfast.

Y’all have a great Monday.

Chuck
