NEW!! Econami Sound Decoders!!! From Soundtraxx

http://www.soundtraxx.com/dsd/econami/index.php

They are Soundtraxx’s line of Sound Value Decoders! And they sound great!

I heard that they have newer sounds like the air release when the locomotive starts moving. To me the Econami’s sounds sound better than their original line of sound decoders. How are they different from their regular line of decoders(Excluding their price)? Do they have less features?

And what do you guys think about them?

Charles

Charles,

Some discussion on it here:

I’ll pick one up just to see if there really is anything to write home about…

There truly— IMHO — is not a sound decoder out there that can be described as “perfect” but for my needs the Loksound Select is my first choice.

Thanks, Ed

Here right now, all you will get are judgments or opinions. Go look at the Yahoo SoundTraxx Group where a couple people are using them. The first batch went out July 27th. Next batch, next month.

There are many experienced SoundTraxx users there. They are also working with JMRI.

You can hear the Diesel prime mover selection here

They had to do something cause TCS was eating thier lunch price wise

and with the TCS auto notching and operating Dynamic brakes features it makes

the compition tough

A former dealer called and was told that the new steam version doesn’t have a chuff cam wire, but relies on the BEMF waveform for chuff sync. I haven’t always found this to work.

I’m checking to see about reverb.

I own one of the Bachmann 2-6-0 Moguls with the Sound Value DCC decoder. In my opinion, both the sound and motor control is more than satifactory. If the Econami is at least as good as the Sound Value decoders (or actually the same decoder), it should be a hit for budget restrained modelers like me. My only concern is the 1 amp maximum stall current capacity. Probably not a good decoder to put in an old Athearn Blue Box loco, at least not without a replacement can motor.

Funny though, when the Sound Value decoder was first announced, Soundtraxx responded to my inquiry that they would not be selling the Sound Value decoder separately.
