New England railroads in 1968

Thsnks! In retrospect, a terrific amount of wishful thinking, particularly regarding freight traffic and profitability.

But Boston - Portland and north passenger traffic has ben revived, and the prediction of most freight to and from New England via Selkirk has taken place.

The complete loss of potato traffic from Maine due to mishandling by PC probably could not be predicted. And it might have happened in any case due to improved roads and general advantages of trucks for the rather short haul.

Great map. Worth a million words. Explains a lot of confusion for me.
